World Malfunction

Nolaro technology... though it saved Mateo's life as an infant, when he was twelve, it took his father’s life, the life of his best friend Melody's mother, and unknown to everyone on Earth, almost ended the world. Now, six years later, the technology and its secrets are waking back up.

Thousands of years ago three races three races from far corners of the galaxy, terraformed the planet of Nolaro as a place to come and share knowledge between theirs and hopefully other sentient races in the future. However, one could only visit by sending your consciousness to inhabit an avatar. The three races believed this limitation might protect their homeworlds from invasion by other races. But the experiment failed after only a decade. The shared knowledge alone was enough to contaminate their cultures and cause strife on their homeworlds. So they abandoned the Nolaro, leaving only those natively born there, and those who wished to remain as permanent inhabitants of the world.Now, centuries later, an invitation sent, then forgotten by the original terraformers, finally reached earth. And Mateo's father Matthew had been the one to find the invitation. But left on their own for too long, the safeguards the terraformers left in place were failing. And the powers and beings abandoned there, that had once been there to protect and guide the visitors to Nolaro, are desprate to escape the world that has now become a prison.
