- PakkoRoyal Road★★★★★ 5.0I've really enjoyed this story for its comedy, characters, and personality. The characters are all great and have a unique enough way of speaking and all have different personalities. The grammar and readability are great and I can get through the chapters without feeling like stuff is going slowly even if I were to binge the chapters that might be the case. Just overall it is a great story and I really appreciate it.
- LiteraryWhoRoyal Road★★★ 3.0But the writer is held back by his contempt for the genre.
It is very clear this story was not made for love of anything, but rather out of a kind of bitterness. The author likely has a love/hate relationship with isekai, and may very well have been motivated into writing this by some particularly egregious example of it (or perhaps just the generally rotten undercurrent of the genre).
That said, there seems to be a clever story teller behind this work, and at times it borders on post-modern masterpiece. It reminds me of the webcomic 8-bit Theater (and I would not be at all surprised if NullPaste was familiar with it), but lacking the essential charm to make it actually readable.
In any case, to the reader, the most important question is, "Should you read this?" to which I would answer with a tentative no. If you really hate isekai, and really loved 8-Bit, then you'd probably still be better served by doing something else with your time, but you could give it a shot to see if it fits your taste.
To the writer, I would suggest going back to the drawing board, and figure out what it is you really like about isekai stories, and what it is that pisses you off about them, then use that information to craft a story that will make you happy, rather than one that dwells on something that pisses you off. You have better things to do with your time than grumbling about dumb fantasy stories, and I think, at least, much more important stories to tell. - The ValeRoyal Road★ 1.0Couldn't get past chapter 5 - Isekai the CEO. Basically, so far it looks like an attempt at a kind of crack, evil sadistic nihilist fiction, set in a backdrop of an office. It feels llike the author is trying for funny, but it misses the mark, hard. No timing, poor framing, no punchline. It's not even cringeworthy, just gross.
Edit: The main thing, I think, is this is a character driven story - and I can't stand to read about these characters. None grab my nterest, they all just make me want no more of them, or just not care at all. Either consequences need to be ameliorated for comedy (think slapstick) or there needs to be less active psychosis from the characters for this to work.
