It's a good one shot short story. The style is very nice (and despite the title of the review, it's modern English). There's a nice rhythm and structure and I could see this being read from a stage. There are a few typos to fix, but nothing serious. I do complain that that (at the end) protagonist saw something, but we the readers do not know what it is that he saw (only the general nature).

The fire and brimstone to describe the setting is very typical and has the archetypal domain down, but little else and substance. If you were to read it flat out it seems little more than a lite religious tone that obscures the condemning act so the reader can impart their own ideas as to the reason our MC found himself in such a predicament. It is a decent piece of writing, but it doesn't fully commit to a narrative story.
