Why Would a Lich Bleed?

Having been alone for centuries٫ not counting unwelcome intruders٫ the Dark Lord is tired. He has fought٫ killed٫ maimed٫ burned٫ and tortured٫ just so that he may wallow peacefully and undisturbed in his underground home.
