Why a Goblin? [ Book 1-2 STUBBED ]

Description

I’ve spent many days and nights daydreaming about what it would be like to suddenly wake up in a different world.

Not just another copy of Earth.

No, something far more.

A world filled with magic, wonder, and all things fantasy.

There would be dragons flying all over the place, hoarding gold and breathing catastrophic flames.

Elves living high amongst the trees in massive forests as protectors of the land.

Dwarves who instead found solace in the caves deep within the Earth. Turning various metals into fine pieces of weapons and armor, drowning themselves in ale throughout the process.

I thought about it many different times.

Yet despite how many times I thought about it...

I never actually expected it to happen…

To wake up in a different world, one unlike Earth in many ways.

Only thing is…the body I woke up in was something else entirely.

I mean there were so many different things I could’ve become, but of all things…

Sigh

Soo much fun. The idea of humans reincarnation to Goblins is such a fun trope and this story really does well with it.
I also like how the main character doesn't just go OP right away and allows for the "gobliness" to take hold.
So excited to see where it goes....

A fun little read, Rick is defitnitely hilarious but I wish the chapters were a bit longer. Despite that, looking forward to the second work from this author! Really enjoyed the first he wrote but this one feels remarkably different and kind of just shows off the range the author has. Really hoping for some longer chapters though :)

Okay, first, don't focus on the mistakes until chapter 20. Besides it being a little strange being in first person, and some poorly structured POV changes. From chapter 20 onwards it starts to improve. So be patient.

OVERALL SCORE - I think the story has a great setup to be a solid piece of work. Waking up as a goblin would certainly present a unique set of challenges, and I appreciate that the author addresses that. You definitely get what the author promises - Rick is, in fact, a goblin. And he does question himself a lot.
STYLE SCORE The story flowed well, but I do with that less time was spent on Rick hanging out by himself in the first cave.
STORY SCORE Here is where we get into the nitty-gritty of it. The story has the potential to evolve (pun! You had to be there) rapidly once it gets going. Finding the tribe of goblins for Rick to meet was a big milestone. I like what the author did with the main character participating in very goblin-esque activities. There is conflict, a bit of strained friendship, and a delightful looming “big bad” for which Rick must brace himself. But, like I said, it does take a long time to make it out of the cave and start establishing the storyline.
GRAMMAR SCORE The writing is fairly repetitive when it comes to certain words, and it hinders certain scenes and monologues. This can be a pretty big deterrent, but it is an easy fix, and it seems like the chapters got better as we got further in.
CHARACTER SCORE I like that the characters were not made all-powerful. Even Jaba, the badass of the tribe, is capable of losing. I think the character development is slow, but that is not a problem. We get glimpses here and there of friendship, personal motivations and pride driving Rick forward. I do wish there was quite a bit less inner dialogue because it comes off as a streamer narrating his every move in a third-person rpg, but this is a LitRPG, after all. Unfortunately, there were not enough introduced to be able to speak to their relationships and development fully. I am open to being wrong as I keep reading!

I want to start this review by saying that I am largely unfamiliar with LiRPG web novels and only learned about the genre through Manhwas. Because of this, I believe this story is great for readers who are new to those types of web novels.
From the very start this series makes it abundantly clear where the storyline is generally heading, which makes it simple to follow. This story embraces the concept of an Isekai story wholeheartedly through the lens of the main character Rick. He serves as the typical otaku who fantacizes about getting reincarnated into a fantasy world and leading a fulfilled life as a typical Isekai protagonist. The twist of him being reincarnated as mere goblin living in the poorest conditions possible is a nice twist. It works especially well because of Rick's positive attitude. He embraces his new life almost immediately and strives to make the most of it. It was this charming trait of his that makes this story feel so fresh, compared to other stories with a similar plotline. That positive attitude of his extends in the way in the relationships he shares with others, because he can be friendly with just about anyone. His budding friendship with Jaba was what made me wholeheartedly invested in the story. However the story would definitely benefit of including more characters relevant to the plot so the main duo have more personalities to bounce of. Furthermore the narration can be quite messy as POVs of characters change very suddenly, which makes it a bit confusing for the reader to keep up with. Overall it is a charming story, which will draw you in, if you warm up to the characters quickly.
I genuinely recommend this story, if this type of storytelling appeals to you. I sense potential here!

Good story so far.  I'm a good ways into book1 I will like and fav. Soon so far I'm really happy with what I'm reading. I don't  have any criticism I'm not a author just keep up the good work, and have fun with it. Thank you for your efforts in providing entertainment.  Good stories are hard to come by.

The start was actually pretty good, but then....yeah there's always a 'but' in there.
Multiple POV storytelling is interesting but hard to balance. Especially when one of those POV knows something that the MC doesn't and says it out loud, so then the readers will know it too. That my friend is called a spoiler. I'm pretty sure a lot of readers doesn't like spoilers.
What's the difference between a talking system and a granpa in a ring? Don't ask me because I also don't know, but again, I do know that I don't like that kind of stuff.
Anyway this story has potential but it isn't my cup of tea. Yeah you read it right, tea not coffee. So all the best to the author and may we meet again in another story.
    Ciao.

This has a solid start. Some of the choices made do not seem to come from a college student. Then biggest turn off is the author talking to the reader or giving spoilers. If those 2 things were tweaked or you enjoyed that writing style, this would be a solid 4 star.

    I don't normally give a review that isn't 4 or 5 stars.
This story has a mildly interesting plot. The plot is not original, but the details of the world building are original enough to grab my initial interest.
I keep wanting to like the story, but there is a major block in the way: the writing. The sentence structure and choice of how the story is told reads like it was written by someone that does not have a great grasp of the english language, which is weird since the other stories by the author don't read this way. Overall, the writing is intellectually at a 2nd or 3rd grade level. I've kept reading to about half way through the third book, hoping the writing would improve, but the style hasn't changed. The best I can figure is that the author is trying to narrate the way a low intelligence character is experiencing the world.
I don't like leaving a 'bad' review and I don't want to dicourage someone from following their passion, but compared to many stories that can be found on royal road, this is low quality.
    Overall:
    Plot, OK, typical derivative isekai
    World building/details, kind of interesting
Writing, difficult to appreciate due to it's simplicity
Sorry, but that's the way I see it.
