While Waiting to Wake

It wasn’t strange to dream of the last thing on your mind. In sleep, Em anxiously followed the missing hero of a tragic novel, able only to watch and wish the author had done something—anything—with the silver-haired boy. Besides making him disappear, that is.

But then, her dreams didn’t stop. When she “woke up” this time, it was as her namesake in the same novel—only now she was lucid, autonomous, and able to interact freely with the other characters. Em quickly realized that if she wanted to enjoy her time stuck in a coma, she needed to make sure her part of the story didn’t happen as written.

The best part about changing everything? All she needed to do… was nothing.
