- PikaBZHRoyal Road★★★★ 4.0I'm aware this is being re-edited to kindle but after reading dissent (the kindle edition, my review is on amazon and goodreads) I could hardly wait yet I'll certainly go for the re-edited version when it's available. So I knew there would be fresh paint here, and perhaps even significant differences like dissent has between the 2 editions.
Even so, it was a pretty good read.
Very interesting world building and lore continues to develop, this has a great potential that is well served by many protagonists and their schemings as well as a lead character endearing albeit in an often tragic way.
The mesh of protagonists keeps expanding and their various plots and intentions keeps the suspense up. Some claim to be after Aeris' good, even if they genuinely do, their definition of "good" remains to be seen.
Aeris survived, but she's scathed by previous events. As good a soul as she can be, these traumatic events might drive her astray if she can't deal with them. The reservations she has for various reasons to share her burdens could be her demise. Even if hope remains, the road will not be an easy one.
The character of Windor is also pretty interesting in his dynamic with Aeris. At the end of dissent he could simply have been a callous bastard, later events prove there's more to him. As much as his abandonment of her was a lame deed, it could be the trigger for a deep change.
The only problem I had is I finished too quickly.
