When Life Gives You a Superior Biology

Description
You make the best of it. Or at least you try to. Because with all the amazing things in this new universe I found myself in, there are equally horrible things too. Everything has a way of balancing out. So what does that mean for me, considering I won the genetic lottery? All that good has to balance out somehow, right?
(Died and gets reincarnated into the DC Universe as Supergirl AKA Kara Zor-El.)

- Hadi graningeRoyal Road★★★★★ 5.0truly a good story and im glad i found this its first time im reading a fanfic about kara that i really liked, better late than never. ive seen that the last time this got updated was last year its probaly caus your busy but ima wait until new chapter comes.
- LomyrilRoyal Road★★★★★ 5.0It's not often I get to read a "real" reincarnation story. Where the main character actually gets reborn and starts off the story as a baby.
What is even better, the main character doesn't immediately realize what is going on. It takes time to understand that they have been reborn, and even longer to realize where they are at. It helps to make me feel like this is something actually happening to somone, as opposed to the usual "Hey! I'm in a new world!" I often read.
It's only chapter one, but I am definitely looking forward to more. - MrMaleRoyal Road★★★★★ 5.0Really this is a wonderful series, it has amazing world building, great characters, great dialogue that are easy to follow, good lore building, great at filling in the comic data with well thought out ideas, and the way Kara develops is really interesting and c asn be both funny and serious, and the self awareness of Kara really gives a nice humbmle but smug vibes, i really hope the story continues after 3-ish years of being inactive as it was just beginning to get really interesting, Kal El was just 6-5 months away from being born and while i’m not aware of the comic accuracy i do know a bit and that seems pretty accurate to my knowledge
and the small headcanon adjustments from comic accurate lore is a nice touch - OceanflexRoyal Road★★★★★ 5.0So far, after reincarnating, every chapter is on Krypton, we don't even know if she'll end up as Supergirl for sure or not. She loves her family and home planet, and honestly I'm enjoying exploring it through her eyes too. If we do leave, it's going to at least be bittersweet, because I'm invested.
Before reincarnating, she was a black man. Doesn't come up so far, because puberty hasn't hit. Might never come up because there's a lot of story that can happen before puberty. And mothers on Krypton don't even get pregnant, so there's no reason something like teenager/attraction hormones even need to exist. - halohustonRoyal Road★★★★★ 5.0This story is amazing it gives me the feeling of a genuine comic book. I can saw with out a doubt that this is the best supergirl fanfic I have ever read.
The moment that it got me Is when Kara held the sword above her head with light all around her. - srkiesser1Royal Road★★★★★ 5.0It's so much better than any Televised story about Krypton Life. Now I have to fill space on this comment, because it requires fifty words, which I find to be a rather arbitrary number, as my first sentence is all anyone will read anyway. We're here to read stories, not reviews, so let the reviews be short sweet, and too the point!
- theanemiaRoyal Road★★★★★ 5.0I absolutely love this story. This is how you do an isekai. Seriously. No notes.
The style is great. It feels unique, and I love how the first person perspective allows for tangents or innaccuracies. The protagonist is just a 9-year-old girl, she gets things wrong or misremembers or messes up or goes on tangents. This is so important to the style. She feels so very... human. Which I suppose will be more important when she goes to earth and becomes truly superhuman, with the laser eyes and flight and whatnot.
The story is perfect (or close to it), I think. I think the nebulous but extremely urgent deadline adds a lot to the frantic nature of these early chapters. She has to do something, but doesn't know what. she's 9 years old, what can she possibly do? That's her story arc, really. I love it. It's so very in-genre. Literally, you could take out the DC connection, make it take place on a future earth, and make her a human girl with precog powers and it would still be a superhero thriller (i'll expand on this in the character section). I am so curious to see what happens next.
The grammar is, I think, the worst part. Worst is, of course, relative. It's perfectly fine grammar. But there are occasionally noticeable flaws or issues. Poor syntax, or redundant language. Every once in a while a sentence isn't immediately readable, and you might need a second pass to get authorial intent as to exactly what's going on (fight scenes are the worst in this regard, though it is again relative) Nothing even approaching major, but I think it could use an editing pass sometime.
In regards to the characters, it's a little complicated. The main character, Kara, steals the spotlight. Not even close. She is great. The author has done a great job putting the reader in her headspace. She really does feel like a girl who is an incredible genius, an extremely determined superhero-in-the-making who you know is going to go on to do great things, but still a child. She's flawed, in a way that - RackOfLifeRoyal Road★★★★★ 5.0I like the story unlike other SI the story goes about how she tries to save krypton and might be able to (as the latest chapter ive read) it shows her growth as a character and how shes trying everything she can as she tries to save krpton. The story i can tell will be more exciting and orginal then most fanfics and i would highly recommend to read it if DC fanfic is your thing or just a superhero fanfic in general
- SolaceAvatarRoyal Road★★★★★ 5.0Instead of shoving a author-insert character into an established story, this story instead extrapolates out little-explored lore to take things in a very different direction from established timelines. Not sure where this is going but very excited to find out! Pretty interesting take on why kryptonians are so isolationist, and how a whole, very science-based civilization never managed to figure out about their own latient, easily-activated abilities, and why they might exist in the first place. It's a very interesting look into Kryptonian society so far! And a pretty strict timeline for when it'll have to come in contact with other cultures, one way or another.
Main character is interesting, doing her best and apparently exceptional, but not without flaws or doubts or moments of weakness. So far not many other chracters have been introduced, but they do seem to have their own personalities, not just one-dimensional plot devices. It's still pretty early on, but I'm hopeful for the author's ability to write believeable characters. Chapters are being added pretty rapidly currently, make sure not to work yourself into burnout, author! Selfishly, a lot more fun than having to wait a month between chapters. They're decent enough length too!
This is, of course, an early review, so there's only so much to comment on... especially while avoiding spoilers. Hopefully this helps! It's really a story worthy of attention. - TheDangerousDinoRoyal Road★★★★★ 5.0Where The hell did this come from? It's so good.
hi, I'm Dino I'm a fan fiction addict. And I love it when people create an AU so AU it's it's own book. And this is perfect.
there is been quite a bit of not explicitly told characterization going on here but Kara is it interesting protagonist! A very solid and desperate start for something 7 chapters in and im on the edge of my seat for some more.
