Bill Brabham, a recently divorced and unemployed financial manager from Texas, is a man down on his luck. With nothing left to lose except possibly a few years of his life, he takes a high-risk, high-reward job cleaning up at the Fukushima Daiichi Nuclear Power Plant.

While in Japan, his luck drastically changes, and everything starts to go right for him. Unfortunately, his new-found luck seems to be coming at the expense of those around him. His investigation into this phenomenon puts him in the middle of a dangerous criminal conspiracy where he must contend with everything from the Yakuza to a sassy teenage girl with a penchant for role-playing.

It has that cartoonish depiction of reality that is rare and one of my favorite types of stories. I personally like when a lot of things clearly non-fiction have this style of writing because it fits well with a nonfiction world. One of the best parts is how It is interesting in all of the characters viewpoints not just a few. They are accurate to their personalities and I am seamlessly taken from perspective to perspective. The characters are also diverse.

It is hard to find a lot to complain about. I guess if you are looking for a serious story, well this is probably not it. Instead it is a delightful, increasing silly, unrealistic and fantastic romp. But it is also increasingly fun to read.  I do suppose that if you don't take it in the rather tounge in check way that it is intended then you might be offended if you are in any of the groups mentioned. Americans. Japanese. Men. Women. Texans or New Yorkers. Bankers. Etc.
But it almost falls into the South Park category of getting away with stuff because it sort of offends everyone equally; but it does this without being quite so over the top. Instead it manages to achieve what I saw as being more of an at least somewhat subtle and realistic parody.
Grammar and spelling: no significant or even noticable problems. I think that I suggested one change, which is a lot lower than average.
Story: very different, but good. I don't want to give spoilers.
Characters: so both the main character and the others seem pretty flat in the beginning. But the story takes time to get going. Once it does, all of the characters become much more realistic and things come together in a way that is fun to read.
Style: The author has actually illustrated the story with photos. Interesting.

A light hearted story about a man who gains the power of luck. not really much else to say about it.
I personally like this story because it does what it does very well without draging itself out, unlike a lot of other stories on this site who eihter overstay their welcome or drag out a lot on a story element.
would highly recommend if you would like to read a shorter story.
