I found the story's fantasy background interesting. So from the title, it can easily tell that the mc has a class that the world doesn't really favor. Even the mc's summoner doesn't like it at the start. It can be said that the mc is in a hard place to be. I believe people would feel anger during the first interaction of mc and summoner and also at the actions of the summoner. They would start to have a decent relationship in the next few chapters, but it will be difficult to raise favorability for the summoner. I kinda understood the summoner's opinion as it was similar to other mc that collect only the strong and ignore those they thought are weak. I felt sad for the mc, but I'm interested in the author's take on the situation put on the mc. There are interesting scenes and I can't help but wish for more detail. The story does feel a bit fast, but it seems to follow an important plotline that would ignore fillers like grinding in the dungeon. Though the only complaint I have is how it was too easy for the mc to overcome their fear related to their close death.
Still, I enjoy reading the story and I'm looking forward to the story's future chapters.

Maybe I'm jumping the gun here after just the one chapter, but this looks promising, and I'll be keeping an eye on it. 4.5 stars.

This is a fun story that has the gimmick of our MC being used a summon, but can only wield a shield. The worldbuilding is decent, but doesn't make a whole lot of sense. The dynamics between the MC and his summon is childish at first and develops in a way that follows a decent narrative arc. The tropes and attitudes are very much in line with anime archetypes and conventions with predictably simple, almost stock typing. This makes the plot easy to predict right down to the timing of the beats.
As for our MC's shield ability, it is of course more than meets the eye. The shield types are not fully described and are limited to a handful of types for reasons unknown. The fights are simple, but not that engaging as every character except the MC seems to be unskilled and lacking in perception. The prose is simple and could use copyediting, but it is not bad. This was a fun read, though it could use a little polishing.

No characters, only carboard cutouts and tropes as vehicles for what the author wants. Worldbuilding assumed more than thought out. In short; unnatural characters and behavior and a world without a foundation or consideration. No huge grammar and spelling errors thankfully. Props for that but still not a good book.
