- C.K. BradleyRoyal Road★★★★★ 5.0I was looking forward to this one as the synopsis seemed right up my alley and I'm glad to say it did not disappoint. I find today that a lot of reads while still being good try to be good in something elses shadow or take themselves to seriously. I feel this book bucks this trend and is just a lot of fun and I'm honestly surprised that it hasn't blown up or at the very least have some sort of cult following. The humor is good, every situation and how its dealt with seems relatable. The main character is very relatable and the story itself moves at very nice pace.
I think my favourite aspect is the writing itself as it seems the author is very talented and knows how to string words together confidently and fluid. He knows how to set a scene and an atmosphere with what I'd call the Goldilocks version of wordplay.
The only advice I could give is lean into it even more, get a little more nuts and swing big when your going to swing. But maybe I'm only a few more chapters away from that so its hard to even make that comment as its not a paint by numbers story.
Honestly one of the best reads I've had on this and I look forward to continuing. - OnceWrittenRoyal Road★★★★★ 5.0A failed backflip, a bloody lip wiped away with gentle care—the opening scene of "We will prevail" feels deceptively warm and intimate. The endearing back-and-forth between the roguish Kato and the seer, Alice, lulls you into a sense of playful romance. But that single drop of blood is a potent, haunting promise of the gritty violence inherent in Kato's life, a promise the story makes good on with shocking speed.
What should be a tragic ending instead launches the narrative into a new, surreal reality. After his brutal 'death,' Kato awakens inexplicably healed in a bizarre, subterranean world, and the story pivots into a desperate survival journey that feels like a fever dream. This is where the story's light touch approach to LitRPG comes into play. There are no overwhelming stat sheets or skill trees; instead, Kato is guided (and frequently mocked) by a disembodied, passive-aggressive voice that assigns him insulting 'training modules' and assesses his frail condition. This blend of life-or-death situations with the almost comedic absurdity of his new 'system' makes for a uniquely compelling and unpredictable read.
Style: The author demonstrates great skill in shifting tones, moving from intimate character dialogue to brutal action and then to bizarre, almost comedic, fantasy. The narrative effectively captures Kato's witty and resilient voice, keeping the reader grounded even as the plot becomes increasingly strange.
Story: The story structure is a wild and compelling ride. It uses a powerfully foreshadowing opening to set up a brutal ambush, which then gives way to a mysterious 'rebirth' and a survival arc in a strange new world filled with odd creatures, magical items, and a mysterious 'system' guiding the protagonist.
Character: Kato is a fantastic protagonist—charming, witty, and incredibly resilient. His established relationship with Alice provides immediate emotional stakes, making his subsequent ordeal all the more impactful. His back-and-forth with the pa - RainyLiquidRoyal Road★★★★★ 5.0We Will Prevail is a fun, action-filled story with a delightful pinch of humor.
Stylistically, it uses this humor to elevate scenes both in and out of the action, with the main character, Kato, often joking or using humor to try and talk his way out of situations, usually resulting in something going deeply wrong (or technically right).
The other characters of this story are interesting in their own rights, with brutish thugs, a friendly seer, and a sarcastic and insulting support. While Kato is the main character, with enough energy to be compelling in that role, the other characters throughout the story lend their own quirks and energy to the plot.
The story, itself, is wonderfully written, flowing well with the addition of the character’s thoughts to give a fun insight into Kato’s mind. Kato is also reasonably powerful, rather than falling into the narrative pitfall of a character growing to godlike status with no buildup.
The grammar of this story is great, with no blaring issues that I can see. Each chapter is long enough to be satisfying, but short enough that they don’t drag on while leaving you wanting to keep reading.
Overall, We Will Prevail is definitely worth taking the time to read for a chuckle. - ZacheasRoyal Road★★★★★ 5.0This story is a captivating, character-driven descent into an otherworldly odyssey, blending fantasy, dark humor, and existential dread with surprising warmth and heart. From the first failed backflip to the surreal, apocalyptic visions, Kato's journey is compelling, unpredictable, and emotionally resonant.
Stylistically, the prose strikes a strong balance between introspective and witty. Kato’s sardonic inner voice is consistent throughout, offering comic relief even in the darkest moments. The narrative doesn’t shy away from bleakness, yet it never becomes hopeless—anchored by a protagonist whose stubborn resilience is both inspiring and painfully human.
The worldbuilding is deft and immersive. Redusk, the underground labyrinth, the glowing fruits, and even the cryptic training modules each feel original and cohesive within the surreal tone. You never spoon-feed explanations, trusting the reader to piece things together, which enhances the mystery and tension.
Kato himself is the soul of the piece. A flawed, funny, and vulnerable protagonist, his growth from a cocky street thief to a desperate survivor and—perhaps—something more, is skillfully handled. His interactions with both allies and enemies are layered, unpredictable, and at times deeply affecting.
Grammatically, the writing is clean and fluid. Minor, intentional rambling mirrors Kato’s mental unraveling and helps build immersion. Pacing is well-managed, with reflective stretches and bursts of intense action blending seamlessly.
Overall, this is an excellent piece of character-centric fantasy with real heart and sharp wit. Fans of gritty, introspective adventures with surreal twists will find a lot to love here. A highly enjoyable, surprisingly profound ride. - WhiteMystRoyal Road★★★★★ 4.5Having carefully read through the first five chapters, I am impressed by the strong foundation this novel sets for what promises to be an immersive journey. The characters are particularly well-crafted, each exhibiting unique traits and internal conflicts that immediately draw the reader in. Kato’s blend of humor, vulnerability, and determination creates a relatable protagonist who feels genuine despite the fantastical setting. His interactions with the mysterious disembodied voice add a fascinating layer of tension and subtle wit.
The story itself balances suspense and world-building skillfully, introducing an otherworldly environment with vivid descriptions that bring the cavernous setting to life. The pacing maintains interest without rushing, giving readers space to absorb the atmosphere and stakes involved. The blend of mystery, humor, and moments of quiet reflection work well together to create a nuanced narrative.
The style and grammar throughout the chapters are polished, with only minor issues that do not detract from the overall reading experience. The author’s voice is clear and confident, helping to maintain engagement.
Overall, I rate the story and characters at 5 stars for their compelling nature and depth, while awarding the style and grammar a solid 4.5 stars. This novel shows great potential and I look forward to seeing how it develops. - alexUnderTheStarsRoyal Road★★★★ 4.0The story is filled with comedic relief at the same pace as the progression of the story.
Style score:
The narration style doe bring out all the comic relief added to balance the slow crawl of the story. This solidifies as further you read the story.
Story score:
The first two chapters are unique and standalone. The following chapters deliver the dreamy sequence it promises to be with utmost dedication.
Grammar score:
There have not been any grammatical mistakes to be found. And the story kept itself simple enough to make the reader get adjusted to the story. This was majorly helped by the grammar the author had used.
Character score:
Kato, our main character, is fun and adventuring fool we follow along through his journey in the city, and then where he arrives at. Alice as a side character delivered what she was brought in as, to hook us with the truth that is portrayed.

The story is a progressive story that should be read with a cup of coffee. A nice story worth every comic event that is paired up well with its dark fantasy element.
