We Need a Deathworlder!

Description
Thousands of years into the future, the stars flourish with intelligent life traversing between them. Some of that life natively hail from hazardous planets widely categorized as 'Deathworlds'. The intelligent species that emerge from these planets are simply labeled as 'Deathworlders' and although some are held in high regard to the wider galactic community, others such as 'Terrans' originally native to Earth are commonly seen as dangerous warmongering brutes. But a particular non-deathworlder goat-like insectoid individual named Chakalata'motaas is in search for a Terran to protect her. With almost her entire family slain, an unprecedented bounty on her head and onlyonetrusted ally by her side, she seeks a Terran as a last ditch effort to survive. For she knows more about Terrans than many and understands that the ape-species has more to their character than their mere reputation. Terrans are story tellers, myth-forgers and fantastical creators ofhope. Chak hopes against hope that perhaps some element of what makes Terrans so special are true enough to save her.A bounty hunter Terran name Simone Thatch is disgraced ex-military. Haunted by her past that dragged her down into the seediest of pits and addiction, she has only just recently been able to drag herself out of the worst of it. Now sober from everything aside from alcohol and caffeine, she takes up the nomad life accepting solo bounty jobs in the less-than-reputable corners of the galaxy. Little does she know, the largest bounty to literally walk right into her life would change it forever in ways she couldn't have ever expected. Both Chak and SImone will come to realize that their mutual tragic pasts are connected by soured serendipity and that only together -with friends and family made along the way- can they overcome not only the trials of the present, but the looming conspiracies seeking to bring great destruction in the rapidly approaching future.

- DaScootRoyal Road★★★★★ 5.0This story is a reddit HFY (Humanity, F*ck Yeah)-style Deathworlder story, and follows a lot of tropes common to those - humans being known for being incredibly tough and durable, everyone else being made of glass, people freaking out at the sight of humans, etc.
Unlike many other HFY stories though this isn't a war story but a pretty personal story between two characters. There's violence but the human doesn't have any sort of scifi supersoldier enhancements or anything, and threats are still definitely threats. The plot so far mostly focuses around dealing with PTSD with a bit of GL going on, and is pretty touching. It's also pretty good about not info-dumping the state of the universe at you.
I think the biggest flaw of the story perhaps is that it feels like things tend to develop very quickly, mostly driven by Chak's honestly nearly suicidal levels of willingness to immediately trust and/or help everyone she meets. Several bits of character growth are occurring much more quickly than I would expect from a web serial, leading me to wonder what's being left for later, though it's possible that the story is intended to be shorter than the average RR epic. - Ar548Royal Road★★★★ 4.0We need a Deathworlder is a fantastic combination of a sappy love story and a action packed thriller.
Before the full review I will explain the title: This is my second time reading this story, I first read it as it initially came out on reddit. The version on royal road is missing 4-5 critical chapters and only the first half received all the corrections to grammar, spelling and typos that the reddit version received. Go read it there instead!
Edit: the author responded to my comments saying that the chapters have been added and the grammar has been corrected. While I have not reread the story to confirm I'm willing to trust their statement. I still think if i were to go back again I would use the reddit version.
End Edit
As for the story I found this to be a pretty typical long form HFY story but the characters were more compelling than most in the genre. It is fast paced with the intent of keeping it short, while at the same time never really feeling rushed. Sometimes the characters make confusingly poor decisions to move the plot forward but theres always at least some logic behind it so it doesnt detract from the overall experience.
