======================================Oskar’s sleep is filled with nightmares. Though these aren’t like the ones that pull him back to battlefields and their bloody cost. The screams of his long dead brother, Erik, ring in his mind every night. Worse still, they’re not a memory. They’re a call for help. Oskar heeds the call, drawn to a terrifying realm between worlds and ultimately to a desolate planet on the brink of collapse. A world where water is lifeblood, and the fading remnants of magic cling desperately to it. Fighting to save his brother, a final realization dawns and Oskar realizes why he's been summoned; a broken man to heal a broken world.
What to expect:
- A Druid and his Pangolor Companion, Penny... in a desert!
- Light psychological horror.
- Light LitRPG elements.

- DasKrowRoyal Road★★★★★ 5.0Like a druid on a barren planet this story starts a little dry but quickly grows as the author infuses their world with life and nurtures their word garden to grow into a wonderfull story with uniquely lovable characters and a pangolin i would die for in a heartbeat.
Give it a read - Gh0st_AIRoyal Road★★★★★ 5.0The world of the story really wears the Dark Sun influence well and avoids the pitfall of just using the more common fantasy races to give it it's own character.
the mc's companions feel fun and exciting to be around lets hope they can weather the excitement he will generously provide them back. - KaelasRoyal Road★★★★★ 5.0The first couple of chapters are a bit slow, but it picks up soon enough. The depression the MC was/is fighting with was written with hands both kind and true, which I really appreciate. Also liking that the MC's physical disability isn't just hand waved away or made to infantalize him, instead being treated as something that needs to be kept in mind without overshadowing every other character trait he has.
- SETonxRoyal Road★★★★★ 5.0In a genre that has seen a rush of popularity over the past few years, this stands out with a fantastic, well thought out world. This isn't just another isekai type story. If you have even a passing interest in this genre, you need to give this one a read.
- elfshanxRoyal Road★★★★★ 5.0Well, I'm caught up on this story now and wish I wasn't so I could continue to binge chapters irresponsibly. I'm loving following Oskar as he finds his way out of the dark tunnel his life has become and make his way in a new world with a new family and cool new druid powers that may kill him at any moment.
The desert world is fun and weird, the mechanics are awesomepants, and Oskar's class rocks. The characters and their backstories are complex and interesting, and the society that this world has developed keeps you sweating. You can tell the gang is never quite safe. I'm attached to them all, so if someone I like dies I'll riot. Also, PUB is probably my favorite sentient AI ever.
This story isn't crunchy on stats, but it's heavy on fun and realness and action. What more could you want? - its_mariaRoyal Road★★★★★ 5.0So far, I am absolutely loving this story. As for my review title, that's how I see him learning his magic. Throwing ideas and concepts at the wall and seeing what sticks. Even with his goggles, he is barely given any real answers and with fighting earth's non magic brain of things, he's doing pretty good. Can't wait to see what happens in the coming chapters. Does he name spells? Does he just have ability to think and do things? Does any pre magical concepts that we have as readers actually apply here? Must read more! Bring the chapters!!!
- mnrosenRoyal Road★★★★★ 5.0A good read for a newbie to Royal Road. Enjoyed it very much. Not enough of an expert here to provide detailed feedback but overall it was well done. I will be recommending it to others as I think it’s solid. Would like to see more from the author.
- moulder666Royal Road★★★★★ 5.0Reviewed at chapter 8. Will update with a fresh one as soon as I'm caught up.
Long version short? The writing here is great. The premise is fairly standard, but well executed. The humor is amazing. Pretty sure this is going to be an excellent ride!
The system parts, for now, are relatively limited but well crafted
Also, too few druid stories out there. :D - phenebeansRoyal Road★★★★★ 5.0This feels really distinct to me compared to most stuff on RR.
There's a vulnerability to it that's hard for me to put my finger on. I think the author really excels at expressing loss and the emotional (and in some cases, physical) pain that results from that. I also feel like they are extremely good at expressing unique moments of joy and beauty.
There is a deep connection between all the characters--not just the brothers--and it comes out inherently in their dialogue and behavior. There is minimal telling here and tons of showing, in the best way.
The world is also fascinating and beautiful and brutal and sad. Now that I think of it, overall there is a lot of overlap between this and another one of my favorite works on here, Born of Silicon --they both have that wonderful combination of openness, vulnerability, pain, and beatific joyfulness, and an ensemble cast of very different characters you find yourself deeply invested in and caring for. (...er, and lots of desert too, definitely lots of desert.)
You should check out Wayspring Wanderer! - th3ardRoyal Road★★★★★ 5.0Been a long time lurker (going back at least 10 years when RR was translating LMS) and this story is making me break that streak and post my first review. Are there better stories out there? Yeah, but this is definitely one of the best on RR, and for the low price of $0 you get a really good story.
As of the latest chapter out, here is my evaluation:
Plot - 8/10. Very good, diminished only slightly by occasional in the moment inspirational power-ups. (There is lots of in story build up and it is definitely not out of nowhere, but it isn't my favorite plot device.) Otherwise, at least up to now the pacing is perfect for the flavor of story and the conflicts feel real and interesting.
World Building: 10/10. This is a big one for me, and it easily gets a perfect score here. The environment, races, and magic all feel outlandish and exciting to learn about. While it still heavily pulls elements from existing fiction like Kobolds and Drakes (called Drakon here) there is plenty added to make it feel unique.
Characters - 10/10. Ever character, I have seen so far with the exception of maybe a few that have had only a few paragraphs of "screen time," every character has struggles and growth and is just interesting.
No major grammatical mistakes come to mind, but I never really pay attention unless it starts to hinder my ability to flow through the words.
TLDR: Interesting desert world with unique magic. You won't regret reading.
