Description
Richard is a fearless mercenary, his loyalty only to gold. He wants riches and power, and for a mercenary like him the only way to get those is through war.
Felix is a Master of the Order of the Paladins, the most elite group of warriors ever to roam the land. The time has come for him to take an Apprentice, to train her in their ways. That becomes harder when war sweeps across their land, and he begins to discover a different side of his Order.
Sophia was once a leading commander, until one mistake forced her into exile. Now, as war comes again, she is being called back to her post. First, however, she must find a dragon.
Luther is a common soldier in a vast, ruthless army. After escaping captive, he sets out to find the person responsible. He discovers a force far more powerful than he could ever have suspected, under the rule of the mysterious elf Skadi, and races home to warn his king.
As war engulfs every corner of the land, they must band together, setting aside old differences if they want to fight Skadi and her elven army. This is the First Afterlife, the Land of Legends themselves: Wardom.

- BardLyreRoyal Road★★★★★ 5.0This is cracking story where death is just the beginning! In this high-octane epic, the afterlife isn't a place of rest but a battlefield where empires rise and fall, and warriors wage endless wars. The story bursts with energy right from the first chapter, introducing us to a vast, snow-covered expanse and the doomed slaver Mallesk, whose flight from justice sets the tone for the relentless action to come.
The characters are as vivid and dynamic as the world they inhabit. From Richard and Grace, a pair of sword-wielding mercenaries with a knack for getting into (and out of) trouble, to the formidable Sophia, whose sense of duty clashes with her personal desires, each figure is brimming with life. Even secondary characters like the enigmatic Felix and the fierce Luther leave a lasting impression, their arcs filled with tension and unexpected twists.
What truly stands out is the style – a delightful blend of modern wit and archaic gravitas. The dialogue snaps and crackles, balancing humor and gravitas perfectly, while the action scenes are sharply executed, drawing you into the heart of battle. With its engaging story, memorable characters, and a world that feels both familiar and fantastically new, this is a must-read for anyone who loves their fantasy served with a side of adrenaline. This is a book that doesn't just transport you to another world – it makes you want to stay there! - Cynthia DawnRoyal Road★★★★★ 5.0This is an action packed story from the start! There’s a lot going on with a seemly overwhelming amount of people and places being introduced very quickly, but the author does a good job of showing how it all interconnects eventually. It does take until about chapter five to get a good feel for the story and what’s going on. But with a strong sense of urgency and a good pace, it’s a fast read.
This is looking to be an impressive tale of war and death, but done so in a brilliant way of following the gradual unfolding of the story from multiple character points of views. It’s really interesting to get in the heads of the different sides, and it’s going to be fun to see how this plays as the story progresses.
The writing style, characters, and world building are quite impressive, and the manuscript itself is crisp and clean and to the point. This is certainly a page turner, leaving the reader wanting more.
This story is engaging from the start and promises much plotting, mayhem, death and certainly war. And much political intrigue to go around.
I do feel that some parts could use a little more description, but that may be more a personal thing. There is certainly enough to enjoy and I’m looking forward to what comes next! - SpookyspacklesRoyal Road★★★★★ 5.0Up to chapter four, here are the thoughts so far,
Style
The style is written in an omniscient viewpoint, and moves between the four main characters with Chapter breaks. The shifts are always natural, and it's very easy to tell you have moved across the map before the author even has to say anything.
The writing is very focused on worldbuilding, to set the foundations of its epic fantasy-esque genre. That being said, everything is built into the story instead of sitting as infodumps off to one side, and descriptions are light when they need to be to keep the action flowing.
Story
The story fits well into its tags as a military adventure (with a fantasy focus), but the focus on the bigger picture does not detract from the reader being able to find great connection points with the MCs and their companions. The story is currently unveiling like four hikers rounding a volcano that's about to blow its top. As the reader, you can tell that something is very wrong, and the characters can too. And the author takes advantage of that feeling to leave hooks at the end of each chapter.
Grammar
No issues were noted on this front. The sentences flowed well, the word choice was spot on, and the time skips/scene jumps were clear.
Character
At Chapter 4 the story has given each of the MCs a spotlight. As this is the start of the story, it isn't fair to conclude on how realistic and unique the author has made them. However, with at least one chapter for each of them, they have done a great job at building up their environments, and connections with the side characters around them. Each of them has a realistic place in the narrative driving them towards the plot - with the one commonality right now being that you probably don't want to piss any of them off.
Overall, a really awesome job!
Poor Sophia seems to have pulled the shortest straw in the group. The dragon doesn't sound like it's going to be a neighbourly fellow. - Ak OmerRoyal Road★★★★ 4.0Overall: It was an interesting story, and I would like to read more, but it honestly wasn't my cup of tea.
Style: The story's style is unique, but I feel like there is too much dialog and too many characters were introduced too fast. I've read till chapter 6, and I'm still not clear on the main character. It would be interesting if there were more than one, but that isn't made clear either.
Story: I feel like the story is going toward a nice kingdom built based on what I understood, but on a fascinating premise, where the main character is just reacting and building himself to the changes as the empire faces new challenges. The plot isn't explored yet in-depth; I don't know where the story is heading, but it already introduces events and characters that I'm sure will be impactful later in the story.
Grammar: the grammar was great; there were hardly any grammar mistakes, but I did find the extra usage of the dialog to be somewhat annoying. I recommend adding more description, more world building, and more character back stories; it will help in the long run.
Character: The characters are unique; the dialog introduces them well and their personalities. The situations they get into are certainly interesting, but I want more drama, more about their past, and even a few scandals. I found it counterintuitive that some characters were introduced but quickly weren't mentioned for the remainder of the story.
Overall: great story, has a lot of interesting concepts and amazing realistic dialog but needs a lot of work. Happy to read more if changes are made to add a more in-depth world.
