- A1t3rRoyal Road★★★ 2.5I had rated this higher prior to the author releasing the latest batch of chapters to finish of story arc 1.
Spoiler: Spoiler
the events the author feels gives motivation for the title of the story, but the author mentions that in an author's note, there is no evidence in the story that the main character is going to go for revenge, just that they are not going to let themselves waste away in despair. These are not the same thing. Something, anything, even a single sentence should be used to show the main character’s dedication to the path the story will show them walking henceforth. Not only is that not the cast, there is, in fact, a massive loose end that the main character just seems content to leave unattended which would be perfect local target said revenge. If the author intended for that to be a later payoff then it would have been better to at least hint to such in the final chapter. As it stands the main character has been left with negative progression, if not outright failure, in all the goals that were setup earlier with no indication that there is a payoff coming later.
Also, as it currently stands the story has shown zero reason for this to be a reincarnation story as the main character’s previous life knowledge, while seemingly useful at first have not helped them at all in not making negative progress. In fact the chapters dedicated (or rather wasted) to showing them using that knowledge mean basically nothing as they have literally no effect on the story arc itself. they may have an effect later, but again nothing is hinted at with regards to that. In my opinion they are effectively filler to pad out the length of the story arc, to the story arc's detriment.
Contrary to how this review may have sounded, I actually like how the author has given proper motivation for the main character to be vengeful. However, it is my opinion that they have wasted too much time getting there and they have not provided a proper hook for the reader to want to continue
