Description
Max is a regular guy who enjoys playing video games in the comfort of his home.
However, he only enjoys playing if it’s a challenge, so he always plays on the hardest difficulty.
When the first-ever full-dive VRRPG ‘Hero of Liberation’ came out, Max scraped together his savings to buy the game and capsule to play it.
After four years playing on the hardest difficulty with the crappiest capsule, the game company finally released a sequel – and it’s multiplayer!
Upon being gifted a new capsule by his loving uncle and sister, Max is excited to see how his skills fare against other players.

- Aceman22Royal Road★★★★★ 5.0This is one of my favorite stories i have read. I only have 1 issue and that is that chapters are not released often enough. in all seriousness, this is a very unique and fun story. if you dont mind an op mc that doesnt understand how op he is, this is your story
- Peter the readerRoyal Road★★★★★ 5.0I flipping love it so far. Characters are great. Concept is really intriguing. My only sadness comes from binging it all in one night and running out of content already but that’s I saved and followed. Def coming back to this one. More please, author! This last sentence is because I’m just short of 50 words…..ayo there we go. Cheers mate.
- SeanLSJRoyal Road★★★★★ 5.0I’m almost certain that there’s an anime with the same premise as this story but either way I love it! The MC is completely oblivious to his skillset when compared to other people but the streaming chat log turns that into humor. It’s a really great book that I binged in one night! If the author was selling advanced chapters I’d pay.
- TH30N3Royal Road★★★★★ 5.0Honestly at first glance I believed this story was just another retelling of over done troupes (before reading) now I'm constantly checking for updates like an addict that just wants more. Well worth the read, although it's easy to tell this is one of the authors first stories in the earlier chapters, it's easy to tell this is a diamond in the rough in the beginning that will easily be an absolute gem when finished. I just can't get enough of this, stop reading this and just give it a shot. I guarantee you will be entertained.
- WardofthewingsRoyal Road★★★★★ 5.0Clueless ridiculously OP MC, just doing his own thing accidentally breaking the world. Writing style is saractic and tongue in cheek and very funny! I hope the story stays goofy and lighthearted and low stakes, this is quite a fun read! I especially like the chat commentary peanut gallery, it's a fun juxtaposition.
A few grammer/word use errors, but and they do not break you out of the story. - J. Rod.Royal Road★★★★★ 5.0The style and pacing are interesting. Right when it feels like it's about to get slow we get some action in the mix, so it leaves you with the feeling of never truly being satisfied. This isn't necessarily a bad thing with a page turner but it does run the risk of having the story fall off with the slightest misstep. Oh, the dangerous games we play 🤣. That being said the style of switching between the real world and Vrmmo has been nicely balanced, and seeing other characters' povs was a nice touch- but ultimately filler. I didn't notice many Grammar errors, although I'm not an authority on the subject myself as you can probably tell. Lastly, the characters in the story are really the hook for me. Easily the best part of the Author's writing was making the characters believable, relatable, and likable. Well done. The only thing I would like a better handling of are the skills, subclasses, skill/attribute points and the like. With an MC that ignores them for the most part but is OP anyway...pretty soon it's going to go from annoying to irredeemable in the eyes of the readers. I'm sure there's a plan there, but I hope we see it come to fruition soon. More chapters!!!!
- HaveRoyal Road★★★★★ 4.5This story does seem promising so far, but there are some glaring holes that should be looked back at.
First of all, the hook is quite wholesome, which adds some colour to every fantasy story that starts with the mc at rock bottom or orphaned
Secondly, I like how much potential the story can have, by using AI to describe how the narrative of the game goes - NPC interactions, quests classes etc. This allows much more content that can be introduced without breaking much immersion since the possibilities are quite literally endless.
However, there are issues, notably, the game itself. You cannot convince me that a massively successful game developer(Take Nintendo for example) added such ridiculous game mechanics in a game they spent years on.
A one day cooldown from logging in for dying?
The story has some cringeworthy moments too which just seems redundant
Young master screaming I want mc's hat! Butler, kill him!! This isnt a xianxia
Overall, the story reminds me about another story called The legendary moonlit sculptor. As I said, this story has massive potential but just needs careful planning to ensure good execution. - gln9Royal Road★★★★★ 4.5It's very easy to spot that this is a fantasy setting, because an Australian is able to play and livestream an online game without ping and disconnection issues. Also because his chat is using correct grammar and spelling, and isn't 80% emote-spam.
That aside, it's very much what's on the tin. It's a power fantasy, the MC is very OP and if anything, he's only getting more so as he keeps stacking titles, loot and opportunities afforded by that unto each other. The author manages well to keep it lighthearted and fun however, where other stories start feeling masturbatory, and the story is selfaware about a big part of the MC's OP-ness is due to bad game design and especially an abhorrently incompetent lead on the balancing team, in addition to the MCs knowledge and skills.
His chat's remarks to what's happening offer lots of fun commentary on what's happening. It, and the titles he attains, regularly get the biggest laughs out of me.
It does get a bit trope-y at times. The player enemy he makes in the game right at the start is both the "dumb thug" and "young arrogant master from a rich, vindictive family" tropes mixed together. The balancing team lead is abhorrently dumb. Wasn't a big fan of those and maybe one or two other moments.
But overall it's very good fun if you don't take it too seriously. - Luther KrellicRoyal Road★★★★★ 4.5I really like this one. I feel like it should be getting more attention than it has got so far, because it’s fun to read, and the writing is good. It follows some of the VRMMO Tropes, while subverting others, in a way that keeps things interesting. I rather like where the author has taken the story so far, and I look forward to seeing where they take it in the end.
- SnuggleCatRoyal Road★★★★ 4.0Overpowered MC in a gamelit makes for relatively low stakes and enjoyable action. This fiction leans into that with comedic character interactions, a reasonably (not annoyingly) oblivious MC, enough consequences in the out of game world to keep it grounded, and an enjoyable main character arc as he loses some of his isolation and starts be recognized for his well-earned (although that's demoted to backstory) skill (not in an edgy way, though.).
Not giving it a higher rating just because it's doesn't have a ton of weight to it. The stakes aren't nothing, but they're not huge either, and the same could be said for the MC'S arc. But it's a really fun read, and I'm always excited when a new chapter comes out.
