Part 1 of the first book is complete, but I have been too busy to do anything more. I will get back to it someday, I promise. Message me personally and kick my ass with encouragement. Maybe that'll light a fire under my ass and I'll get something done. I'm sorry for the long delay, but I'm still here and alive.
Voracity - A low-fantasy romance steeped in pain, misery, and an internal hunger bent on consuming the most sane of us all.
Thomas is a gentle person, too innocent for his own good. He's kind, thoughtful, and caring.
Tragedy befalls the compassionate man and he's torn from his peace by the violent, strangling grip of anguish. Can he remain the kind-hearted man he's always been, or will he slip into dark depths occupied only by those with cracked minds and wicked thoughts as he embarks on the journey of a lifetime, or does he even have a choice?
The story is a bit of a slow burn to start, but I promise you'll be rewarded for sticking around. I hope you enjoy Thomas's journey through the dark as he slips into madness.

- PianoManRoyal Road★★★★★ 5.0As with every good novel, while reading, the reader is left to assume a viable and sensical outcome to each chapter. However that assumption is soon disproven as the next chapter reads.
Backstory and history are built and woven throughout the story so subtly as not to disturb the main storyline. Which builds sympathy within the reader towards each character.
Description and picturesque quality is a very valuable trait for a novel to possess. Which is a big reason, along with the aforementioned reasons, this book is tough to put down.
Although still early in the stages of life this novel commands and awaits the readers undivided attention. - StinkoRoyal Road★★★★★ 5.0Voracity will make you a voracious reader with its quick pace and graphic illustrations of the corrupt world in which the characters live. Once you feel you've nailed a character down and figured out their development trajectory, an unexpected event or two completely alters their nature and leaves our heroes with the tall task of overcoming a chaotic series of challenges to hopefully generate some semblance of peace and normalcy in their lives. The reader is constantly left awe-struck by the capacity for committing purely vile acts the villains of this tale possess. You'll find far more than 15% concentrated power of will among those who last and you'll be left to wonder just how much more they can take.
- ashblack45Royal Road★★★★★ 5.0Amazing!!! The graphic scenes of horror, passion, and adventure drew me in and kept me interested. Hook, line, and sink.
My favorite thing about Voracity is the characters. They're written so well. I love the different dynamics between characters. The individual quirks and flaws make them feel real. If I had to pick a favorite character, I'd have to agree with the masses and say Sonya. She is so sarcastic and funny. I think i like her because I want to be more like her and I relate to her on many levels. My favorite relationship is between Sonya and Colt. The dialogue between them does a great job of showing the audience how deep their relationship is. It's very authentic.
Aside from the characters, the story is intriguing. The premise and events feel natural, not forced. I could feel the writing journey as the story carried me along. It's authenticity and originality is mesmerizing. I find myself thinking about the story often. The sub plot with Thomas's inner demon is *chef's kiss* perfection. I am excited to see what happens next.
The style is also incredible. The author picks his details with such care. it's an immersive and memorable experience. When I think of Voracity, I don't think of reading a book. I think of the world, the characters, and the emotions behind the work. It's incredible. It's been a long time since I have had such an intense experience with a work of fiction. When Aimee gets her eye gouged out, I was sick to my stomach. It was uncomfortable to read, but I couldn't stop. It was powerful.
Here's to more great work from this amazing author!
-Ash - chronoisthegoatRoyal Road★★★★★ 5.0Aldridge writes with such incredible detail that it makes the world building feel on the same level as Jordan's Wheel of Time. This "slow burn" of a start already starts to have the payoff within the next chapters. Every single character has a purpose and motive that is crystal clear. Yet there is more to be revealed throughout the story. These characters feel genuine, familar, and yet there are aspects that feel fresh and original. I am usually not into gore to the extreme but the way it's handled in this feels just right. Aldridge might just become the next big name.
- ChronogeistRoyal Road★★★★★ 5.0Right from the first chapters it is easy to get into the characters. Each one is well thought out and the twist and turns, joy and suffering come in waves. Blood, violence, love and adventure, the good stuff. From scene to scene is great as you can picture this world in its entirety.
Did not have any problems with pacing. With well written characters to hold up the chapters, personally it was easy to get through. Whats in store for each character is exciting for every chapter. What comes next for these characters, who knows. Looking forward to more! - Anthony and Leisel VolskiRoyal Road★★★★★ 4.5Well. Though I probably should have realized what might happen from the synopsis, I didn't think I saw that coming until it was thrust in my face. That said, while Voracity is written beautifully, it takes a while to get there. However, once you're in, you're in. You'll fly through the chapters, getting lost within the conflict and turmoil in the story. The insidious underbelly of Voracity is just starting to show, and it's looking very promising.
Style is excellent. Voice is well balanced. Paragraphs are clean and easy to read. Some of the initial chapters drag on a bit long for my taste, but it's a minor gripe in the grand scheme of things.
Grammar is excellent, no glaring issues. Sparse minor typos, at best.
The story starts slow, almost paralyzingly so. This initial slow burn, unfortunately, could prove to be a death sentence for the novel without some consideration given for the initial chapters. Perhaps a bit more exploration into current world events to build up the reader's investment? That aside, Voracity tells a beautifully compelling story of conflict, both internal and external.
While I struggled to connect with some of the characters, each character is well written with their own unique voice. A few of which are annoyingly pure, but it really only serves to drive the story forward. You will develop emotional connections with these characters, and sometimes that is going to hurt. You've been warned. Also, I think I'm a Sonya fangirl. So, there's that. - DrakoRemRoyal Road★★★★★ 4.5Disclaimer: This is my subjective opinion. To get a better judgement, please give the story a try.
Characters: Let’s start with the best part first. THe characters are well written. They feel alive and each one of the main cast definitely has a backstory; they have motivations and desires. The chemistry between Colt and Sonya is interesting to follow.
Grammar: Nothing much to say, some minor misspellings.
Style: This is where my biggest issue lays. Despite the story being beautifully written, it’s a bit tedious to read. Don’t get me wrong, the descriptions are beautiful, but from time to time it’s overwhelming and slows down the story to such a pace that one might become frustrated with how slowly it develops. Again, it’s my subjective opinion, but I prefer to see the story developing instead of the description of every small move. Mirrorring actions in books has to serve a purpose otherwise, it’s better to refrain from using them in the favor of forwarding the story. Then we have dialogues. I like them! But then we have the dialogue tags, I don’t like them that much. There are two issues I see with them. One, there are too many of them. Most of the prominent writers recommend reducing the dialogue tags as much as possible and when we can’t, we change their position to the front, middle or back of the dialogue line. We can even remove them by showing an action/event instead of using tags. I saw you doing it, but I feel there is more you could do to simplify your story and increase the readability. Another minor issue is the adverbs in the dialogue tags, they are few, but better to get rid of them. When using adverbs, we tell instead of showing, so I’d recommend getting rid of them.
Story: Not sure here. There are bits of it here and there. But I don’t see where is it going. Maybe there’ll be more exposure later on. I usually give five stars to a story in any case, because the author has his vision and we have to wait in order to see it, but this time I didn’t becaus - NatarajaRoyal Road★★★★★ 4.5- Style & Grammar
This is well written, no grammar or style issues. The layout is good which makes the text pleasant to read. However, English is not my native language, so I may have missed some things...
- Story
Not sure what kind of world it before chapter 3. They ride horse so it's definitively not contempory, but there is no real indication if it's a Western, Fantasy or other early on.
The key event is too obvious as the MCs have known all along that the soldiers would be coming for the stolen item... and act as if they haven't.
It was announced that the story was a slow starter, but it should incorporate more background and plot elements earlier anyway. It's hard to get into the story with all the bickering and the little that's going on. The chapters would probably benefit from being half as long. Maybe it's just me who likes more action
- Character
The characters tend to be too something. Sonya is too bossy, Thomas too shy, his mother too nice, Groyce too merciless. This is why it is difficult to appreciate them. These personality traits, which are too caricatural, should be reduced and others added to make the characters more complex and interesting. Colt is fine even if a bit laconic, i'm curious to know more about his story. - HanAlthaeaRoyal Road★★★★ 4.0Beware! The novel is on indefinite hiatus. I was hoping for some conclusion, but I was left hanging (this was before the author changed the status from complete to inactive). The story was just getting started with the drastic change from the story cast. Not sure I vibe with the changes though as they make an 180° to parts of the characters, which honestly seems to land flat.
- woseRoyal Road★★★★ 4.0Voracity likes to wear its influences on its sleeve and it shows. A love letter to Berzerk with hints of Game of Thrones, the story starts off strong and maintains a good pace throughout, making it for an extremely fun read.
However, the dialogue seems to be the most inconsistent point about it, with characters switching from "fantasy speak" to "witcher mode" almost on a dime, with Sonya loosing C-Words while the knights maintain their clean-ish verbose English. It's what threw me off with most exchanges in the story and what I think the author needs to settle on in the coming chapters.
Other than that, if you are looking for some grim and gritty fantasy frun, Voracity is the thing for you!
