- BlueShearRoyal Road★★★★★ 5.0A heartwarming story with imaginative world building, and a personalized system that’s straight up busted in all the best possible ways.
Going into this I hadn’t know what to expect really, and so was pleasantly surprised on all counts by the ingenuity, and just straight up wholesomeness on display. Not only is this a comforting tale with elements of family, trust, and devotion, but it also provides all that op mc goodness that you read a transmigration story for.
It’s hard to talk about this story without spoiling, arguably, the best part (the vip system) but just the simple fact that system access is only available to a select few people (our Mc being one of them) should give you a good idea as to the interesting power dynamics at play here. Me personally, I thought making each system exclusive, not to mention unique, was a very nice touch on the authors behalf.
I also thought the consequences for his meteoric rise in power were very true to what you would expect from such a power centric society. Given the fact that he quickly becomes one such powerful entity, and has a mother/aunt type figure to protect above all else, it leaves me wondering just where the story will go moving forward. How he’ll balance securing her protection while swimming in such dangerous waters.
Our main character is extremely driven, haunted by the failures in his past life, and it shows in his need to get stronger to protect what matters to him.
The grammar is good. The descriptions paint a vivid picture of the setting, scents, sounds, etc. in my mind. I especially enjoyed the action sequence from inside the dungeon.
My only minor issue would be that certain sentences seem to repeat verbatim from paragraph to paragraph. I’m unsure if this was intentional, and it only happened a couple of times. Barely noticeable, but I just thought I’d point that out.
Overall, a very enjoyable read, and I look forward to reading more! - LokiTheQuickRoyal Road★★★★★ 5.0Minor spoilers in this review, as I think the first chapters are too important not to reference directly.
This is a story about resurrection, and it takes you through the whole experience. We witness the unfortunate death of the MC, Eman, then are taken on a journey through a true rebirth. He's not just himself in a new world, he's a baby, dealing with all the stress, hunger, and powerlessness that comes with it.
Powerlessness is a real theme in the book, and it explores it well. The MC felt powerless in his previous life, and being reborn as an infant gives him an entirely new perspective on what this truly means. It gives a deep and believable reason for his growth and change. Being worthy of his second life is a powerful motivator, and we see how it shapes him as he slowly reaches manhood.
The story is very well written. My only real criticism is that the dialogue isn't quite as natural as the pros, but that improves as the story moves forward. The characters are developed over years, which gives a strong attachment and understanding to them for the reader, and you'll definitely feel invested in their stories.
I would recommend this book if you're interested in the rebirth stories, especially if you don't mind a little bit of slow-burn. The story is worth it, and the pros will keep you moving forward. Definitely one to watch! - Ren CoryRoyal Road★★★★★ 5.0VIP System takes a comfortable approach to the isekai genre, with a noble protagonist named Eman who is financially secure but not really getting the most out of his life working in an office. Then he gets in an accident and wakes up as a child to a beautiful elven woman.
Eman himself is fun to follow. With overflowing curiosity, some naïve tendencies, and noble resolve, he already shows strength of character.
The world and characters feel natural, with a neat integration of magic into the day-to-day farm life that we get small glimpses of. Little bits of character backstory and world information are woven into an efficiently paced narrative. The concise chapters are refreshing, each being its own little scene that feels very focused without wasting a word.
The VIP system is a great touch to the world, mingling power fantasy with economy in a creative way. The pay-to-win system is both novel and opens the door for some really interesting story potential in the future that can blend these aspects.
Eman and Amanda have a wholesome dynamic that speaks to the comfortable farming society the story begins in. Amanda makes for a great anchor character to Eman and a comfortable, homely personality covering up an interesting past of adventuring.
VIP System will be an easy comfort pick for isekai and LitRPG fans who want to get lost in a fantasy world with a fun system, wholesome moments, and magical action sequences. - longwindedone1Royal Road★★★★★ 5.0This review comes after reading the first eight chapters of VIP System. I apologize for any spoiler contained in this review.
Story:
The story follows Eman/Leo who is reincarnated as a baby in a magical world. He finds himself under the care of Amanda (a former adventurer). As the MC grows up, he learns about Amanda and develops a deep bond with her. Eventually, Leo unlocks the VIP system (which offers abilities and items, etc.). The story is well done. It deals heavily on the topic of self discovery, as you would imagine a book about a reincarnated character would.
Style:
The overall tone here is adventurous (and reflective at times). It deals with things like rebirth and personal growth. The story is told from a third person perspective, focusing on Leo's experiences (with some very notable exceptions).
Grammar:
This piece is well written. I can tell that even through the audio format. I listen to all of my RR books through the app (including this one). So, I'm not generally the best person to comment on structure and adherence to the rules governing prose. That said, this is all good in my book.
Characters:
The characters are also well done. Amanda stands out as a strong/nurturing character throughout. Leo, on the other hand, changes quite bit in the 16 years. He has evolved from being a helpless baby. The other characters in these first eight chapters are Sheila (someone from the MC's former life), Alex (the MC's coworker), Garret (the villager), Clair and Samuel (Leo's bio parents), and Neto (a member of Amanda's old party).
The author does a great job of building up a sense of wonder and nostalgia. And as a reader, I'm extremely interested in this VIP system- which offers all kinds of future potential for Leo (and the reader). 5/5
