Description
If you haven't figured out what is what from my long-ass title, then let me break it down for you.
I am Violet and before my 20th birthday, I died. All thanks to some boy. I wasn't a huge nerd or anything. I worked in a coffee shop and then at a Vet's office. Then I died and woke up in the void.
I found the grand hall. Talked to some space Vikings. They gave me the deal in order to come back home. I picked it. I woke up in a world that wasn't my own.
The best part, I am surrounded by steam and mushrooms.
What else could go wrong for me?

- strigidae713Royal Road★★★★★ 5.0This book was written in LitRPG styles that I love to read because a lot of actions happening. Starting from the first time where she met a Goddess until the first time she could create soldiers and creatures. In conclusion, I love this story and it's something light to read and you can even enjoy being a God.
Story: A different core that is being done by a female. I expect that the detail will be more clear because most of my friends who are also females were really good in thinking the most complex detail until the nitty gritty.
Character: Violet with her red auburn hair was the lord of the dungeon. She doesn't have problem but because I read only a couple of chapters I didn't now that is she going to be an intelligent core or not. If the author can create a possible scenario where she evolve together with the adventurer stumbled upon her. It's going to be really great.
Style: The first person diary writing style. That's my comments on how the book is written. Nothing crazy and nothing new. Sometimes the author switches between 'people watching at home' or 'people reading at home' which makes me a little confused. Do I watch this? Or is it a sound from a radio?
Grammar: Occasionaly typos and spelling error which I guess the author writes the novel from the phone. Nothing can change the whole semantics of the stories if you read it contextually. - Hisstory HavenRoyal Road★★★★★ 5.0Violet: Reborn as a Dungeon Core in a Steampunk World, What Else Could Go Wrong? is a smart and sassy tale of rebirth.
Story - Violet is a young girl turned into a dungeon core at death. Her imaginative rebirth is cleverly written to entertain the reader, as Violet masterminds her new existence with a passion alongside her team of savvy spiders and creative mushroom folk. Snakes and scorpions invading her territory are dispatched with precision, while Violet gains clues to her benefactor, Venari, Goddess of the Hunt, and Jaclyn, a mysterious lass in Victorian dress, begging for help.
Style - The author's style evokes an ongoing diary that captures the emotions of a perky spirit coping with profound transitions while maintaining a buoyant sense of humor.
Character - Violet is a charming spirit who engages with the reader, describing the details of her rebirth with a saucy candor.
Grammar - The grammar fits the spunkiness of the character acclimating to her unusual circumstances with poetic touches such as:
My mother told me
Someday I will buy
Galleys with good oars
Sail to distant shores
Stand up on the prow
Noble barque I steer
Steady course to the haven
Hew many foe-men
Overall – A well-constructed story of hope and determination to thrive whatever the odds may be. - Jack0fheartRoyal Road★★★★★ 5.0"Violet: Reborn as a Dungeon Core" is a unique and captivating story that takes you on a journey of death and rebirth. I highly recommend this book to anyone looking for a thrilling and imaginative journey through a new world! ❤️ - Luca DRRoyal Road★★★★★ 5.0This story might not be for everyone. This much I could already say from the very first chapter, and i was proven right when i went to read the comments. However, for those who might enjoy the style - a sort of diary with a lot of self-talk and mental ramblings - the story is very enticing.
let's start with this, then. The story is structured to be something halfway between a diary and a first-person standard pov. As such, it has puns, jokes, meta commentary and a lot of mental chatter within. Sometimes it slows down the pace a bit, and at others it provides amusing and interesting insights into the psyche of the main - and for most of the early story only - character. At times the slowdown might be a bit much, but this is where you need to see whether the style suits you or not.
The first couple of chapters establish our MC as a person. They dont carry the story super hard like some other novels, giving the slow burn vibe instead. Which will be maintained later on too, although the pace picks up a bit. It's more of a character commentary so far, which is a make or break for the rest of the novel.
If you get through the prologue and first chapter, then congrats! This story is for you. It quickly becomes an interesting exploration of dungeon building dynamics, taking from the genre and innovating in style and practices. It slowly introduces us to the wider world, first to the surroundings and to some characters, monsters and dangers, all the while exploring ways the dungeon will grow.
Here i might add a side note: the blue status screens are huge. I found myself skipping them. But luckily this didnt take away the enjoyment of the story. Which means that if you are a fan of status screens, you can read them, if not you can just go past them. A big bonus, in my opinion.
Grammar is perfect and the style gets better and better as the chapters go by. The story is interesting and enticing, giving tidbits of a larger conflict while focusing on what makes dungeon core storie - Miranda HeraldRoyal Road★★★★★ 5.0This is a creative RPG worldbuilding story where the main character is sent to a whole new fantasy world after she dies. It is well written with detailed descriptions and interesting twists, and cliffhangers like 'warning, you are under attack' that made me want to keep reading. It has a bit of a stardew valley feel as she is farming mushrooms and building up her engineering skills. I definitely followed and favorited so I can come back and read more so that I can level up with the main character as I continue to read. The stat blocks are really easy to follow in the tables provided.
I loved this quote, lol: "if I had boobs like these back at home Kevin would have never dumped me for Sam." lol. After reading, I now have a whole new appreciations for mushrooms and will be eying them a bit more closely before taking a bite! I am curious how this little dungeon community will turn out as it continues to grow and develop. From what I have read so far I have high hopes of meeting new interesting animals and find new ways of fighting them off or using them to the best advantage of the community. - Oisin MuldowneyRoyal Road★★★★★ 5.0Violet's story is told in first person with a lively and humorous narration. She's a dungeon core, growing in power from a ramshackle beginning in a ruined church to the goddess who has recruited her for this role.
There's a satisfying back and forth in this story between the high level plot (a rival god is also active on the planet) and the daily tasks that Violet sets herself. She has a smart team of spiders as her first line of defence and opts for an unusual second type of defender
mushrooms!
The detail on the progression side of things is very well done, careful and sophisticated, so you do get to scratch that LitRPG itch if you enjoy the achievement of important milestones in a progression story.
Above all though, it's fun. - SpattykinsRoyal Road★★★★★ 5.0Violet: Reborn as a Dungeon Core in a Steampunk World, What Else Could Go Wrong?, is a very interesting tale. Run-of-the-mill litrpg sees the protagonist showing up and starting as your average lvl 1 adventurer. This story twists the formula by placing the main character in her own dungeon, tasking her with building and designing it as she powers up.
Each chapter is written as Violet would write a journal, often stream-of-consciousness. The frequent fourth-wall-breaking, especially in the first few chapters, is a little hard to get used to; but after a little while it endeared me to Violet. The author's style is consistent and Violet feels real. I do wish there was a better way to have delineation between what Violet says and what she thinks. On one hand, characters do talk to themselves out loud sometimes but it can be jarring at times.
The story itself is great because you get the main plot points nearly immediately. Goddess needs some help dealing with a world overrun by monsters. Solid premise and with the MC's personality, it really floats pretty well. It's nice to see an author respect that we all know what's going on and what style of story we are reading - Uriel SceptimRoyal Road★★★★★ 5.0I read the story up to date and I must admit I'm more and more intrigued by the dungeon core concept.
The story presented by Apollo is very light and fun to read so far. The setting and world shown by the author look promising. Style is overall interesting. Four stars are very subjective here. An old 'It's just me, not you'.
The story itself however is just at the point where it starts to twist and show itself from other perspectives which is always appreciated. Breaking 4th wall may be too much for some people but c'mon. It is also part of the story.
It has a good flow with an interesting setting. Steampunk dungeon - good job. So far we 'saw' just a tiny part of the world and with every side story this world grows.
Grammar score is part where I personally can't say im the expert. Yes- there are mistakes but the author asks us- the readers for help with finding mistakes. My personal take here is an old proverb: always right is someone who never tries. So four stars here are fair.
Characters are the part where I smile most. Like I got to admit you got me at
Gunslinger snake
While I suspected what are you planning to do with beastman mercenaries you caught me off-guard with the above. Heroes, characters, residents or citizens have great potential to build nice side stories that will enrich your world.
I'm looking forward to seeing next chapters of your story. - Warix VivianaRoyal Road★★★★★ 5.0Right off the bat, I'd like to mention that I personally hate the mysterious 'no idea why you're a dungeon core' trope and am happy to say that here it is answered immediately. Right off the bat, we're off to a good start.
An important mention is how the main character is a teenager and the author definitely shows that in numerous ways. Credit where credit is due there.
Progression, what would a litrpg be without it? Here it's pretty alright. A lot of dungeon core stories go for complicated and worse, go for complicated right out the gate. Here, it's pretty cut and dry for a little while. No thirty windows or a dozen stats or etc etc. You know what you're getting and can follow right along.
The story itself is great because you get the main plot points nearly immediately. Goddess needs some help dealing with a world overrun by monsters. Solid premise and with the MC's personality, it really floats pretty well.
Overall, it might not be for everyone, but if you like this type of genre/story, I think this is a real gem for you. - BellaArtzRoyal Road★★★★★ 5.0Reading this story was a positively fun experience. The amount of creativity in it just shines through and as one of the comments I saw said, it is very underrated.
First, the style; there's not much I can say about this, it's simple to follow and suits the narrative the author has setup. I wasn't a big fan of first person pov until I gave it a try in writing but even after then it's still a bit weird to see sometimes.
Grammatically, there were some errors but nothing too glaring that hindered my reading progress or removed the immersive experience.
The storyline is simple and enjoyable, following the adventures of a young woman turned into a frikkin dungeon core for chrissakes. I haven't read anything of the sort so this is terribly unique to me as I hardly branch out to stories or animes with Isekai plotlines as they always seem overused and repetitive. This work on the other hand feels fresh and intriguing in its own right.
Now the characters, there aren't many of them introduced at this point of the story so I'll focus only on Violet. The best word to describe her is optimistic I guess. Her easy dismissal of events or situations should be concerning but from her background it's easy to see she's used to relaying on her own strength to make things easier for others and that pretty admirable. I like her enough now and hope to see more of her character growth in future chapters. There's nothing that can be done about this next point I'm about to make this far in the story but I felt the writer should have introduced a couple more characters that the reader could interact with at the start but given the pacing of the story I think the lack of characters is handled well.
I'm very interested to see where the story goes and I'd definitely recommend anyone interested to tryout this very interesting piece of art.
