Description
At the world’s top college of magic and technology, every day brings a new discovery -and a new disaster. The advanced experiments of the college students tend to be both ambitious and apocalyptic, with the end of the world only prevented by a mysterious time loop, and a small handful of students who retain their memories.
Surviving the loops was hard enough, but now, in his senior year, Vell Harlan must take charge of them, and deal with the fact that the whole world now knows his secrets. Everyone knows about Vell’s death and resurrection, along with the divine game he is a part of. Now Vell must contend with overly curious scientists and evil billionaires hungry for divine power while the daily doomsday cycle bombards him with terrorists, talking elephants, and the Grim Reaper himself -but if he can endure it all, the Last Goddess’s game promises the ultimate prize: power over life itself.

- advocatezzRoyal Road★★★★★ 5.0It's really really great. The prose and flows, and the banters are top notch. One of the best unique take on time loop in academy. It's not just an MC but a whole club of time loopers brainstorming on how to avert crisis on daily basis while also not cutting corners enough in their study that they flunk out of this academy of elites at the end of each school year, hijinks ensue.
(yes, there are actual time progression, which I like better than story where, say 10+ Christmas days have passed and yet the MC hasn't advanced a single elementary school year) - hur-durRoyal Road★★★★★ 5.0I.love it
It's makes sense in a way that has a logic ,you can follow the train of it and is frequently very well explained but then your brain catches up and you realise it's actual insane and the author is incredibly good at bluffing you into thinking it's not
Also created some genuine emotional beats that made the comedy all the funnier - rubylarkRoyal Road★★★★★ 5.0One of my favorite stories I've read, in serial or published book form. It reminds me of Saturday morning cartoons: chaos, comedy, and surprisingly deep characters. I appreciate the original premise, the multi-dimensional characters that aren't just archetypes, and the funny disasters-of-the-week that complement the over arching stories. I read through book 1 a year ago and came back just when book 2 finished, and it was completely worth it. I can't wait for books 3 and 4.
- Devd1997Royal Road★★★★★ 5.0This is one of the most amazing story I've read here if not the most. Although I would really liked some progression in their power levels, I can get past that just for the story. The story and it's premise is very short and punchy. It kind of feels like watching a sitcom, with short stories that leaves a good aftertaste. All the characters have their own quirks and depth as well as a back story which doesn't seem forced and quite enjoyable. I am not a very descriptive person as you can understand from this review. I am writing this review so that I can thank the author for this amazing story. I really hope you continue it and don't rush to end it. Thank you.

Kg lf - Mr. Mis'chiefRoyal Road★★★★★ 5.0Really enjoyable story about a whacky time loop on an island with an ever changing cast of interesting people. A lot of heart, character development and mystery. Has bits and pieces of Gravity Falls, Community, Scooby Doo and other wacky shows.
The story never seemed repetitive and is well written.
Enjoy it at your own peril, I binged it in 3 days. - AnthraxRippleRoyal Road★★★★★ 5.0College, in a lot of respects, can feel like the end of the world. Tests feel huge, relationships can fracture, and you learn that no one actually knows what's going on. Of course, you could be dealing with all of that and the actual apocalypse on a daily basis.
Stuff it Does Well:
Episodic Format: Honestly, this is one of the better examples of an episodic story done well. The Daily apocalypse is always fun in its own right, but it also knows to leave room for character growth and interaction.
Delightful Absurdity: This story revels in the mundane absurdity of college life while also introducing the sort of witty and fun storytelling that is only really possible if your setting joyfully plays with every setting and trope within arms reach.
Great Characters: With a monster-of-the-week format, characters can make or break a story. Fortunately for the readers, this story features well thought out characters that manage to thread the needle between quirky and emotionally complex. Additionally, character relationships are handled excellently and grow or break naturally over the course of the story.
Witty Dialogue (And Everything Else): Each character has their own unique voice and plays off of each other beautifully. The dialogue is part of what really sells this story. It's fast, smart, and hilarious without becoming smothering or trite.
Critiques:
(This'll be another one where I don't really have much to say. While I can't speak to the author's actual intentions, I believe that this story does what it sets out to, and it does it exceptionally well.)
Personal Opinions:
This is rapidly becoming one of my favorite stories on Royal Road. Not only is the humor and setting right up my alley, but I absolutely adore watching the characters build relationships and get to know each other. It also feels very true to the college experience in a way that is kind of hard to pin down. The Doomsday Dorms is a delightful story, and is one of my favorite things to read as I relax after - BeewineRoyal Road★★★★★ 5.0Timeloops and a Magical/Techo College filled with students who don't know the meaning of too much mad science or crazy magic! It would be a great TV show. The characters are well written and quirky and fun! The episodic format fits well with the story and it is a fun read. The MC is a relatable snarky type would is not a all powerfull or super knowledgeable problem solver but he gets the job done as he and other time looper students save their campus from almost daily disasters, passing gods, ghosts, undead, bioengineered sea life, deadly college pranks and apocalyptic events.
- SilverFire111Royal Road★★★★★ 5.0Hands down one of my favorite stories of 2025. The characters develop nicely, we have good ups and downs, action, empathy, laughter/jokes/puns. Plus interwoven overall large moral questions that have been unanswered fully but bring hope. Check this out. It's long but it's worth it, and it's just just fun.
- Teja SunkuRoyal Road★★★★★ 5.0Overall review
This story reminds me of a good sitcom, but placed within a world that doesn't quite make sense. It manages to capture the weird energy of college, while magnifying it through the magical settled of the school. Even after 50+ chapters, the story feels fresh and interesting. I would highly recommend anyone who comes across this story to read it. You're not likely to regret it.
Grammar and Style
I'm not the best judge of these two, but I haven't encountered any major problems. The text conveys enough information to immerse the reader, while also not overstaying its welcome.
Story
This is a part of this story that is executed quite well, though it may not be everyone's cup of tea. As I've said earlier, this is primarily a slice of life, and you probably know whether you enjoy those or not. That's not to say that's all there is to the story; it provides a ton of mysteries that it only answers slowly over time. The first year of the university is going to be over soon, and I look forward to seeing how the story handles the transition from one year to the next.
Characters
This is the part of the story that is executed the best imo. The characters are all interesting -- being just the right amount of ordinary to be relatable, while also being zany enough to be interesting. The characters do change over time as well, and you get to learn about them piece by piece in a way that makes sense and isn't overbearing - TheLeakingPenRoyal Road★★★★★ 5.0Vell Harlan is a wonderful serial, full of humor, horror, hijinx, and more.
The monster of the week style is well implemented and streamlined. The story slowly progresses through daily apocolypses, but while we often get both day one and day two of the "loop" that defines the serial, we also often only get day one, or day two, or a brief mention of WHAT the apocolypse was, but its over now, and we're doing things that have nothing to do with it.
The story uses this well, moving along the main plotline while still given fulfilling mini plots with each apocolypse. You never feel cheated from whats left out, indeed, there are a few times I was glad to have it cut short as constant repetition would just get... repetitious. There is a full plotline that progresses through the daily tribulations, and reaches a culmination at the end of the well marked "Book One".
Grammar and prose are well constructed, and a delight to read. The text is typo free and very clear in description and action.
The characters are all well written with their own unique voices, strengths, and storylines. Even without speech tags, you generally know who is talking, and get a real sense of the person speaking through their words.
Read this story. You'll laugh yourself silly.
