- DesirRoyal Road★★★★★ 5.0I must preface this review by saying I've only read the first few chapters, and kept my review rather undetailed. I believe Veins Of Ruin is a story you need to experience for yourself, for the first time with a fresh set of eyes. It is extremely well done and takes a approach that though it is common, it works out much better than one would anticipate before giving it a read. If there is ever a story you need to read, regardless of Genre, Setting, Length and etc, then Veins of Ruin is exactly that story.
Overall the story is exceptionally well written, with accurate tone and dialogue to match any and all settings. The story immediately throws you into a new world, and allows you to explore new mysteries and adventures in a unique way.
Style-wise the story is very well written as mentioned previously and I don't have many notes to offer.
The grammar falters at times but there are almost no visible spelling mistakes and no low points that mess up the rest of the story.
The story and the characters are very closely intertwined, as we follow our main character as he's thrown into a unforeseen situation. - Fe_mendRoyal Road★★★★★ 4.5I would say that this is one of the most stylish universes that I've ever read. The intrigue set up on the prologue is amazing, the magic system has a lot of potential and the main characters have a good chemistry with each other.
Style - I can see the grimdark tones in the prologue, but I don't believe they were yet flashed out on the main chapters, the change in perspective from a father to a son is really cool, and the magic seems very appealing. Overall i believe the worldbuilding is amazing and I can't wait to see more of that
Grammar - I don't know if the author is British, but some words are a little bit strange, overall I like the descriptions used and the language is stylistic but easy to understand. Also the chapters are short and concise, probably the 3 first could be one single chapter in a conventional novel, but this helps break up the moments of tension and separate the periods of time
Story - The prologue sets up the story in motion, and a reveal in another chapter builds on that, but it needs to be developed further
Characters - So cool, Orm is my favorite
