The colonists are a hardy and independent people, having come to claim a stake in this undeveloped area, far from the haughty nobles and bureaucrats who dominate their homelands.

Harper did not want to come to Vanax, but she didn't have much choice in the matter. She was cast out, left with little but her hard earned skills and her rapier. Her lack of talent in her desired Domains would make it much more difficult to reclaim her place and achieve her lofty ambitions. Despite this, she would make her own way, and her eventual rise to power would be all the sweeter for it.
