Unto Dark

Description
A man of cripplingly ill mind, bridled with the spirits and regrets of the past. Wade Pierce trudges through each day of his monochrome existence, only as penance for his sins. Such a man is abruptly decamped of this world courtesy of unapologetic forces, left stranded in a realm filled with unknowns. Armed only with his potent yet fragile intellect, Wade advances into this new abyss, as he attempts to rewrite the wrongs he has committed. Plagued by vile beasts, self-righteous Gods, and even his own seething darkness, the cracks in his mind begin to spread and a dangerous, newfound power bubbles beneath the surface. As the world grows darker day by day, this unfortunate journey begins

I suppose rectitude dictates that I should state any themes worthy of noting here. First of all, this story is not a sunshiny one in the slightest. Since it is listed under the psychological and mature tag and not the comedy tag, that shouldn't be a surprise. Next, morbidity is a factor and general apathy towards human life. All of these are common themes amongst other writers, so nothing new there. The story also contains consensual, and non-consensual sexual activity, although I have tried to be as tasteful as is possible for someone like myself. Finally, the pace is drawn-out, and the language is magniloquent at times. Not to mention, the chapters are quite lengthy. Don't expect to read this halfheartedly... Other than that, enjoy the story... There's nothing more important than that...

- BrandRoyal Road★★★★★ 5.0I would love to give you five stars but I won’t simply because of the fact that there are some butthurt readers that rate a fiction with only a few chapters 1 or a half star with the reasoning that we have yet to see how this story goes. We can plainly see that your story WILL deserve its rightful five star ranking but well…. people on this site are selfish pricks.
It is stupid and simply demotivates an author when your rating goes from a few stars down to 2.5 or so, just so… ahhhhhhh….. fuuuuuuck!
I will certainly up my rating after the next few chapters are out. Fuck those guys, honestly….
But my point is, dear reviewer above me, that this story is simply good. You can see it if you are not completely dumb and/or retarded. Another thing, but how does the author benefit from getting a review of… let’s say 0.5. You think the author would jump around in joy that his rating dropped down to 3 stars or what?! Yes, certainly some authors get over their head with the ratings and most 5 stars are unreasonable but if you take one quick look, as I said, one quick look, you will notice that this fiction wholly deserves its 5 stars or at least above 4. And I am still being objective here and not because I wanna give an author a kickstart or something like that. Keep that in mind before you turn into a completely irrational dumbass that rates this badly out of his idiotic principles. Oh wait.
Another thing: You say that it is useless to rate a fiction that has only just begun, you know what else you could do then, what all of you could do? Leave a comment you pieces of shit! If you don't like to write a review, expect the author to keep going and want to give him constructive criticism then, for the love of God, write at least a comment. It would even be enough to write: 'Good job!'. Or anything like that. BUT NO! YOU DO NONE OF THAT! It enrages me how insolent some of you guys are. You want the author to continue but do simply nothing, don't even give him words of courage. Fuc - Zombie UnicorneRoyal Road★★★★★ 5.0Very dark and satisfying......please do continue this fic
- SitrixRoyal Road★★★★★ 4.5So I went into this one thinking that I would probably drop it because I don't usually read fictions that have long chapters. And when the author says the chapters are long, they are LONG. However, the length of the chapters seems to be just right with how the author writes them.
(I've read up to current chapter [Chapter XII] )
Style
The style of the story is amazing. The choice of words is well beyond the high school level (which, in my opinion, makes for a better read) and the general flow of the story is spot on. There is only one single problem I have with this, which shall be addressed in the Grammar section.
Story
The story. My oh my. The story is just as the author explained in the fiction description: Dark. However, this isn't the kind of Dark that pertains to massive amounts of gore. There is gore, however, it's not overly used or exaggerated. The Darkness of the story comes from the psychological aspect, and man is it done well. Very well, in fact. I felt like I was pulled into the story from the moment I began reading the chapter. The emotional connection is built upon long, drawn-out scenes of memories and hallucinations (if they actually are...). The author does a fantastic job explaining the mental illness of the MC by showing, not telling. The only thing I disliked about this was at one point in the more recent chapters was a POV shift to some powerful people. I re-read the scenes once but I was still unable to fully understand what was happening, so I gave up. It was difficult to understand what was being said and I'm not sure if this was done of purpose. Nevertheless, this doesn't distract from the overall greatness of the story.
Grammar
There is basically only ONE thing I disliked about the grammar. The COMMAS!!!!! Oh my goodness! Waaaay too many commas. There's some sentences that don' t even need commas but they are still commas in them. It slightly disrupts the flow of the read with so many commas (it's not unreadable) but it didn't distract or - magocbiRoyal Road★ 1.0"...there are some butthurt readers that rate a fiction with only a few chapters 1 or a half star with the reasoning that we have yet to see how this story goes."
Now see the opposite of what just said:
"...there are some hyped readers that rate a fiction with only a few chapters 4 or 5 star with the reasoning that it's good when we have yet to see how this story goes."
From my point of view, rating a fic before we actually see a bit more than just 1 or 2 chapters is doing nothing more than hurting the author. Rather let them keep doing what they are doing and hold your rate sticks?
