What does it truly mean to be a monster?
The Royalian Empire's second prince Drefan barely survives weeks of opium detox in his attempts to forget what has driven him into the northern deserts. In hopes to battle what has left him marred and escape those that have made of him a monster, who deserves to have that word etched into his skin.
At the same time in the Camarian Empire, Nathanael, the child-prince who was removed from society due to his chronic illness, is dying. It is not long after he learns this, that he hears that he is a monster from the lips of his religious family. Devastated he will do anything to be accepted by his god and family again, including not fight an unjust fate.

- NatarajaRoyal Road★★★★★ 4.5The author has worked a lot on the world, society, religion, and other aspects of his fiction. It is very developed and there is much to discover. The grammar and style are impeccable except that some things could be a little more succinct.
The only weakness of this fiction in my opinion is the lack of internal motivation of the characters, the reader is not carried by their objective, perhaps this will be corrected in the following. - woseRoyal Road★★★★★ 4.5I would like to begin with the preface that yes, the beginning os a bit of a slow boil and that yes, I did find a number of grammatical errors that were minor. The most important issue was the author's tendency to slip every now and then and to miss a couple of tenses.
However the author does mention that this is a first draft and I expect these issues to be resolved.
With the flaws out of the way I would like to take this moment to tell any prpspective readers that this story is some primo grade-a dark fantasy stuff that I would not have expected to find on RR. The themes are potch black, the world is well developed, the dialogue is spot on. I will adit I have had trouble grasping the names (the conventiones the author uses are very weird) but that did not take me out of the more unsettling scenes that were the stars of rhe show.
If I could offer any early feesback, I would recommend the author cuts exposition down to the absolute minimum and replace all exotic names with more recognizable titles for ease of reading.
Overall I will be following this story and am.looking forward to seeing what the second draft is going to bring. - BullerRoyal Road★★★★ 4.0Like, you know, a full-grown person calling their parents mama and papa just seemed perfect for that image in my head. Not that this was actually what it turned out to be, other sources telling me that I have read the story of a kid protagonist. That... did not come across much in the actual texts, the word-choice making me think we were at least thinking of a 20 year old(or I guess we could say a 15 year old royal).
I understand that we get told his age in like the first paragraph, but I thought that was more of a throwback to a past time. The way they talked just didn't make it seem like it was an entire flash-back chapter.
Whatever. Since the conversationial-skills don't correspond with the actual characther-traits, I guess that deserves a lower rating. Style is alright generally but not enough to make one gasp, the grammar is yet again average, and the characters don't need comment. 4/5 for me. Might change in the future
