Description

Every time Liam dies, he gets a little stronger.

Liam Ash is summoned to a world of systems and magic alongside a busload of passengers only to discover that he has a useless skill: when he dies, he takes a skill from the enemy that killed him. Unfortunately, he stays dead.

Ostracized by the group, he turns to desperate measures and kills himself through a method nobody could have expected—choking on seemingly unkillable flies.

Now, with a skill that lets him return from death, he will contend with the church that summoned him, the others from Earth, and a world filled with dangerous opportunities.

I usually don’t rate stories early, so I’ll probably update my rating in the future as the story progresses.
The premise is as you would expect so far, a standard underestimated mc gets rare cool cheat skill.
I get the feeling that this is what the story wants to be, though, which is what my rating is by. So 4 stars doesn’t mean this is a high concept drama epic, rather it’s a story that knows what it wants to do and is unashamed to do it.
A good positive is the pacing - The story doesn’t take its time. Too many stories spend 10 chapters or more setting the scene until the premise kicks off, while it’s almost always a similar sort of song and dance.
So, I’m happy the author dove right into it.
A slight negative, that might be rectified as the story goes on, is the characters. So far, they’re all pretty bland, MC included. To be fair, it’s only 3 chapters in.
To be even fairer, I honestly don’t need super deep realistic characters to enjoy a story like this. Unless they devolve into annoying caricatures, I probably won’t lower the rating even if they don’t develop much.
All in all, if you’re reading on Royal Road you probably know the genre this story is going for, and from what I can tell, it’s doing a good job.
