Is suffering like energy? Does it exist as a constant force, which cannot increase or decrease, only shared between people to lessen it?

For Kyn, this question haunts him in his most private moments. He is soon to become a father, and it should be a joyous feeling, but he knows better.

A lifetime of shame, regret and doubt has washed away all his pride, warmth and empathy. All he has left to give his love, is his wife and soon, his child, soon.
