One of my favorite stories on RR. Interesting characters and conflict and well written. Starts off pretty standard, but thenLogan/Necro picks an Orc race which is something I've always wanted to read. Great job so far

I have read the 3 chapters so far and it is Not terrible. The MC is a whiner and a failure something I am sure each and every of us has been at one time or another in our lives. I am intrested in seeing how this story developes and the Author improves their craft and story. So far it shows promise and I like the slow burn build up. Iffin' it gets past 15-20 chapters and Imma still reading it I will re-write my review.

Since freaking Amazon won't allow me to post a review for Lavelle's book, I will post it here. The premise is quite simple. A mentally ill man gets a chance to live in a better world as an Orc. Not really a fish out of water since the MC knew how to roleplay as an Orc perfectly with the in-game natives. As a gamer, he knows how to make his avatar strong by focusing on his strength. Although he has a mental illness, he seems to adapt to his new world pretty well. I'm not sure if that is how mental illness works. What I like are the action scenes and a shocking twist in the story. It is traumatizing, but it does add spice to the story. The dungeon raid toward the end is also fun. What I didn't like is the minor world-building of the game world. I wanted to learn more about the world and what other places there are. But the story mainly focus on the MC living in the Orc town, doing slice of life stuff. He does go outside the town, but not enough. The game mechanics also sound similar to Varnorth. If you read Varnorth, you might notice both mechanics are the same. Might be a cool twist if Varnorth is in the game world too. Overall, it is an okay average litrpg series with familiar races in a familiar fantasy setting. Although it starts in one place throughout the first book, I hope the next one will have more world-building with new characters.

Hear me out. I've read every chapter so far (14 chapters have been posted at the time of me writing this review). This story was a struggle for me to read and enjoy, especially during the beginning. When stories explore the issues of suicide and inner conflict, they must do so carefully, and with humility and respect. This story does this to some degree, but I still was left with a sour taste in my mouth after reading what brought Logan to commit suicide, and his personality shifts after the fact. I'm sorry, but Logan just comes across as an asshole. His reasoning for not wanting to live isn't well explained, nor is his reasoning for wanting to stay alive after becoming a paraplegic.
When Logan gets into Exodus Online, things get even worse. His personality devolves completely, and he becomes an overly generic nice-guy hero who talks and behaves like a robot. He always does the right thing, never has any moral ambiguity, and has as much personality as a blank piece of paper. We're told there are other gamers, called Star Children, in this world, but we have yet to see them. Logan/Necro just wanders aimlessly around, doing fetch quests and busy work for everyone in town. Just like the author's last book series, Varnoth the Black Blade, this one severely lacks a main plotline to keep the reader engaged.
Frankly, Necro is really starting to become a Gary Stu. He's OP, everyone loves  him, he always does the right thing, women adore him, and he is worshipped like a god just because he's a Star Child. Quite the contrast from Logan Sharpe, who was a suicidal asshole before Exodus Online. Like someone else said, the idea behind this story is great. The issue is that the book cover gives the impression that this will be a gritty story about a barbaric orc who plunders villages and fights against humans and builds his tribe of orc warriors and becomes a villain or an anti-hero. Instead we just get a generic hero who just happens to be an orc.
I'll keep reading this story, an

This is very good. It started out as an overpowered knucklehead but now it has some emotions but not very good plot

The set up is standard and ok albeit with some plot holes ie why is he really needed versus traditional testers but I assume that will be revealed in time. The biggest challenge is with the main characters shift from despondent suicide candidate to self-absorbed jackass.  If he is going to kive in this world for eternity and play a not yet played race, you think he would be more timid/realistic than his "I do what I like and if you don't like it screw you". It seems to big a shit in MC personality without something to explain the shift....

The beginning was okay Story Wise after  thought Not so much,
First the mc is depressed.... then he gets the proposal for the game and he goes jakel and hide (or however that is called) as soon as he gets in the game he becomes a mega dick...
Secundly he has a higher strength stat and that makes him godlike...
Conclusion the Start was a nice Promise, but the story that followed was at best half-assed
