Description

Nathan Seldon was on what he thought was a normal date. He didn't expect to be mugged, he didn't expect to be fatally stabbed, and he certainly didn't expect Maggie, his date, to deal with their attacker using magic. In fact, what she did was so shattering that it cracked open a doorway between worlds. Now Nathan is trapped in another, far more dangerous reality, and the only way home is if Maggie kills again.

It could be worse. After all, Maggie is an assassin on her way to the next mark. All Nathan has to do is tag along. What could go wrong?

We get to wander with Nathan through the other world where myths live and unicorns aren't shines and rainbows but crazy monstrosities eating virgins......;P

Short Summary: This is a great character-driven tale of a human MC taken to a near-mythical realm with magic by his date (trying to keep the "spoilers" here within the bounds of the story summary as given by the author).  The story hinges on the MC coming into his own, and developing enough skills and confidence to assert his will into the world, despite everyone and everything working to control his future and fate.
It is a beautiful tale with a lot of wisdom around the motive forces of people, and around the natures of our various creative sparks in the world.
Style: told in third person descriptive style, I found the voice and details given to be very solid.  The POV was not always on the MC, but I had no difficulty processing multiple POV's and I found they did enrich the story.  That said, we have the smallest score here on my ratings, since I found quite a few of the narrative jumps to be a bit abrupt, and there was also the occasional jarring sentence disrupting the flow, as well.  Essentially, I think there is still something for the author to learn to enable smoother transitions and for crossing gaps.
Story Score: I thought the story was excellent.  The only way to improve it (IMO) would be to spend some more time with the secondary characters to flesh them out and their perspectives as well, or to explain a little bit more the mechanics of how certain things were happening
(such as how the antagonists kept finding the MC's party). It seemed more like a detection than somebody feeding inside information out.  There was some explanation here, but I did not find it quite so convincing mechanically.
Grammar: there were occasional grammar errors that mostly did not bother me.  Once in a while there were two part-sentences smashed together that would disturb immersion, but overall, the grammar seemed mostly fine.
Characters: Along with the story itself, this is one of the great strengths of the story.  There are at least three very carefully drawn characters her

I couldn’t stop reading this as it is really well written.
The characters are fun, if dark at times, but they all have substance where needed. Oh my do the twists and turns surrounding them add to this tale of Magics, friendship and just plain old grit keep you reading and wanting more.
There are a few typos in it but they are few and author takes suggestions on board when made. However, they don’t spoil the flow and I thoroughly recommend you give this a try and enjoy all the mysteries the author weaves.
