Before I begin this review, I have to make it clear that I'm not a fan of short stories. I much prefer long epics so I might be biased.
The setting is well done for the format, and the worldbuilding was sufficient. The pacing could use some work, but it was okay enough to read. The cynicism of the narrator was a welcome addition that held the story together.

Ngl, I really liked the story. I liked the political dimension, the narrator's cynicism, and overall the relatable and believable dynamics. Not entirely sure why they had to be plant hybrids though, didn't seem to add much to the story despite the occasional sun-bathing and showing off leaves. I admit I was a bit tired when I read the story, but perhaps the pacing could be improved in some areas - it was hard to track everything that was going on at times, and hard to know if tensions were supposed to be rising or falling until the climax hit. Overall, pretty good though.
I also quite like the setting. Worldbuilding doesn't have to feature too prominent in short-stories, but here I think it did in a good amount - large enough to be interesting and give flavour to the story, but not too large as to detract space from the plot.

If I said a lot of stuff happened I don't know whether to say I've lied or told the truth. We certainly get a lot of facts thrown our way, some I still have to think about since I don't really understand it all that well.
Grammar was fine. Setencing was weird sometimes but that might have been due to other sentence-structure than the one I'm familiar with. I still need to point out the fact that the story ended pretty early. It could have worked as an opener but not much else.
4/5 from here. Didn't understand enough to really enjoy it, though that might have been a fault on my part.
