- luda305Royal Road★★★★★ 4.5One, the verb tense is unusual. I thinks it's present tense. This may or may not bother you.
Two, the story is of the beginning of Barbara's legend. The whole bit about the cursed immortal is the future, if not far future. That said, the prologue is in this future where she's this cursed immortal, and then chapter 1 goes back to the beginning of her legend.
Three, if it's not clear from the synopsis, the story takes place in an alternate universe mesoamérica where the Columbian exchange was less destructive to the natives. I think. (The exposition is dripfed at a good rate which means that we don't have all the answers yet).
