    So far, so good!
This is an early review, having read up until chapter 5.
The story revolves around two POV, a kid named Avery and a commander named Shem. We alternate between the real world and Shem's world. At this point we don't really know what is happening exactly and how the two are connected.
Avery's backstory is quite compelling, coping with loss and a new life that he doesn't know how deal with. It is hinted that Avery possesses some powers and I want to see how that will play out into the plot. His relationship with Dee is endearing, and a bright spot in Avery's chapters.
The only thing that bothered me a little, is Shem's story. Although it intrigued me, there wasn't much to go on. We don't know who he is or what his motives are. I guess we'll see in the future! We are thrust into his world, amidst a raging war that he has to rally his troops in order to win against overwhelming odds.
Since I am a fan of fantasy, I want more chapters from Shem's perspective. The few glimpses of his world made me want more of his story, which is what a good story should evoke!
The story flows really well, and I didn't detect any errors.
I  cannot wait to see what comes next!

I’m 99% confident this book will only get better!
I say it all the time and I will say it now: these are opinions only; I also do not have five degrees in editing or book publishing. Please also note that this is an “early review.”
[This was written shortly after the fifth chapter was posted; no other chapters have been released as of this writing. These are ideas and may not always be fact for every person who reads this. My compliments/criticisms are subjective.]
    My five thoughts:
    1) I LOVED THE SYNOPSIS AND INTRODUCTION. It was vague enough to make me ask questions, and written in a way that (I assume) would make many people want the answers.
    2) The grammar was almost perfect as far as I could tell!
    3) I had to read the five chapters twice to see if I had missed anything (in regard to the story)- I didn’t. Whatever other “mysteries” or plot events are to be in this book, I’m hopeful and excited that they will be AWESOME.
    4) While I liked most of it, I personally wished that the introduction/prologue chapter had given just a bit more information or clues as to what had happened around it, but everyone has their style; perhaps this was exactly what the author was going for.
    5) I’m not so sure exactly what the story is about or how certain events (they may or may not be?) are tied together… YET. I have theories at this point, but only speculation.
I have no further comment as of this time; as mentioned earlier, this is a very early review. In my humble opinion, a story that looks like this can only get better from here!
