- FJBRoyal Road★★★★★ 5.0I'm only 6 chapters in to this story, but its already thrown enough awesome stuff out to hook me. There's a plethora of powers, some highly unusual stats, and world-ending threats. Along with some time travel shenanigans, which are always fun. Altogether, this has a lot of cool stuff going for it.
- GuthanRoyal Road★★★★★ 5.0Right from the start you can tell this story will be entertaining. My favorite characters are Zara and Slim. The plot is very engaging and reminds me of a dystopian take on system apocalypse’s if that makes sense.
The antagonists feel real and not straw men that only react to the MC. These guys plan ahead and are proactive.
I ship Scott with Zara. - LeafgRoyal Road★★★★★ 5.0Almost forgot I had a RoyalRoad account despite how much I browse here, but when I saw a good story that for some reason didn’t have a sizable following for whatever reason, I knew I had to give my two cents in hopes that more people will notice it. Here’s my first ever review on RoyalRoad.
It’s a pretty good story. I wouldn’t put it on the same level of stories like Primal Hunter and the like, but I wouldn’t be peeved at the quality difference if I read this right after. Despite the deus ex machinas, occasionally confusing plot, mishmash of genres, and lack of steady power progression, when you’re dealing with several unknown, unfathomable, paradoxical, and nonsensical somethings, all of which are only currently sparing your existence for conspiracies and/or for funsies, you just have be even more ridiculous/nonsensical/struggle to survive, which fits the Lovecraftian theme of this story pretty well. Side characters feel well developed; I can’t remember the last time I enjoyed a (lawful/neutral evil? chaotic neutral? completely insane?) side character like Orion so much. Earlier parts felt like a slog here and there, while later parts sometimes felt like adrenaline rushes. Author is very much a fan of letting the reader rely on their imagination (show, don’t tell) which again fits in with the Lovecraft vibes (or the author forgot, but it works out anyways). MC definitely isn’t a good person, but he isn’t pointlessly evil either (why should a higher being stoop so low to commit acts of evil without purpose?), and being “good” has its own benefits anyways. All in all, would recommend anyone to at least read the first 10 chapters to see if it keeps your interest.
Like Orion, I hunger for more knowledge (chapters). Only Madness is Eternal. - Mourning_DoveRoyal Road★★★★★ 5.0really great. give it a shot! the first few chapters may seem generic but i promise this story is anything but. Super interesting world building, magic system, etc., even if it's broadly within the confines of the litrpg tower climbing genre. very unique MC and struggles too. Highly recommend this one
