Tiny Dungeon Core [Book 1 STUBBED for Publication]

Description
In a world of Dungeons and High Spirits, when the Archmage Calamvor dies, creating an artificial Dungeon Core, he sets off a series of events that even the godly High Spirits couldn’t have predicted. His creation, stolen from him by the most unlikely of creatures, will go on to save the world. One tiny piece at a time. After all, it is the tiniest Dungeon Core in the world. This will probably take a while.
Come follow the adventures of a Dungeon Core so small it boggles the mind. Its creatures are perhaps not the fiercest, at least at first, or the most challenging opponents to someone as large as a human, but at least they are loyal. That loyalty is tested as dangerous foes come for the Core and the Aether it possesses. The High Spirits have their own agendas for the little Core, and a darkness stirs in the North. Tiny though it is, the Dungeon Core will need every advantage, no matter how small, to protect itself from the machinations of Spirits, Fae, and Fallen.
Hey there, Author here. I've been wanting to write a story like this for a while, set on the small side where the tall folk tend not to look. My ideas have been inspired by several authors over the years, fromBrian Jacquesand hisRedwallSeries, to more contemporary Dungeon Core novels on Royal Road likeDungeon Without a System,Island Core, andDragonheart Core. Movies have inspired me as well, withEpic,The Secret World of Arrietty,Stuart Little, andThe Secret of NIMHbeing just a few. I hope you enjoy this story.
Book 1 is now on Kindle Unlimited and Audible!

- zoxabelsRoyal Road★★★★★ 5.0A well written and fun dungeon core story so far! A somewhat different take on dungeons but im really enjoying the different creatures and how the conflict between them is shaping up so far.
There are few dungeon core stories like this that are not full on murderhobo or completly friendly to everyone. So I recommend everyone to give it a try! - BlueazerRoyal Road★★★★★ 5.0Thanks you Royalroads I was able to find Tiny Dungeon. First let me express a great thanks to the writer TheBeardedMan. Thank you for choosing to write this story and share your imagination with us. As much as I tried to read this story slowly I find myself drawn to it, forcing me to read whenever I have free time. I am currently reading 7 stories and have to wait for the authors to put out more content for me to read so I was estatic when I found your story to help tide me over, and now I am obsessed. (Currently on B2 Chapter 45). For those reading the review. Give it a go, I say 5 chapters will give you a good feel for the way the Author writes and will give you insite on your desire to continue reading. If you like Dungeon Builder type stories I think you will get engrossed as I am. Cheers and Happy Reading!!!
- ConcordiaRoyal Road★★★★★ 5.0I had a great time reading this story, too bad I caught up already. I binged the story so far in just two days. I was unable to put it down.
Cant wait for the rest of the story!
The plot is intriguing and goes quite a bit deeper than the standard dungeon has awakened and wants to grow.
I also like the different POV the author regulary uses. This makes the other characters, both in and outside the dungeon a lot more relevant. - JNeptunaRoyal Road★★★★★ 5.0A cute little story about a tiny dungeon dealing with big tiny problems. A lot of setup has been done before the first major "arc" has begun involving Delvers, which is a thing majorly missing in the genre. Having a dungeon established BEFORE the main groups arive and it make sense is a bit fresh. Well done pacing and story telling with hints of a much larger world being thought of and properly planned abound.
- LuesatoraRoyal Road★★★★★ 5.0A dungeon story that is typical in how the dungeon functions, but not in it's choice of creatures. A dungeon built for those who are small and often overlooked or ignored.
But with the dungeons guidance, these usually harmless creatures become fierce and mighty.
Though even with these upgrades, such tiny creatures would not be much of a threat to human sized entities, at least not at first. But in time, they will become true monsters.
If you enjoy dungeon stores, you would be remiss in overlooking this one. - Psyren1596Royal Road★★★★★ 5.0Just a nice slice of life take on the dungeon LitRPG genre. Definitely worth a read. The MC is growing and learning from his mistakes, as well as slowly discovering his place as a dungeon in the wider world. I didn’t expect to get invested in the little dungeon creatures, but here I am I guess.. though I must say, the rewriting really threw me off. I know I need to read it again to be up to date with the slight changes in the story, but it’s rather annoying to skim through the chapters with the whole dejavu feeling.
- SagaDuWyrmRoyal Road★★★★★ 5.0A good spin on the Dungeon Core genre.
Grammar is good, and I haven't noticed any problems with spelling either. The writing style is both easy and enjoyable to read.
I really enjoy the character of the dungeon. He's a mix of childish and wise that's really fun, and I've enjoyed watching him grow. He isn't one of those MCs that came back from the future and now spend every single moment of their time doing the perfect thing seek their goal. He does have goals because he's also just living his life. I think it's a good balance and let's readers enjoy that life along with him.
The secondary characters, both dungeon creatures and outsiders, have interesting personalities and motivations. I really liked the Formorian arc. The gods are fun too. It really comes through that they're both powerful beings and just people. Not everything they do is perfect. But they're trying.
One of the more interesting things I think is that he doesn't make his dungeon right the first time. He has to go over it again and again, renovating things. It's really fun, and watching him balance the urge to do something fun and the need to fix old floors is enjoyable.
The only thing I would really wish for from this story is a map for the dungeon, but the author does a pretty good job making sure you understand the layout. - BeenBeanRoyal Road★★★★★ 5.0Lots of fun. Cool creatures. Love the creatures and how they get made. The magic system is pretty cool too.
So a mad mage trying to achieve immortality attempts to put his soul into a dungeon core to live forever. A mouse steals that core, then the core steals part of the soul of the original mage. It is incredibly undersized, which leads to a host of other benefits and drawbacks. The gods think the protagonist is cute and/or funny, and do little things to mess with him and keep him alive.
I like the evolution paths of the creatures. Sure it's a common thing in this kind of story, but Tiny Dungeon executes it well. The evolutions are largely effected by the life of the creature in question, or by the whims of the protagonist. If the system is unable to create a satisfactory progression route, the protagonist may create his own. This creates an interesting balance.
For example, due to a particular incident, Valterra found himself with a lot of fire-aspected evolutions. Therefore, he decided to do a cool firey forge floor, with burning trees and rivers of molten metal. On the other hand, he created a civilization of ants, and all the evolution options treated them as brutish animals instead of people, so he had to design a more civilized progression arc for them, allowing them to keep their person-like minds upon ascension. Both are very intersting things. - ZuaxeoqRoyal Road★★★★★ 5.0Sorry for the bad English it's my third language.
I like the concept of this type of dungeon core story where when creatures want to challenge the dungeon they need to in certain size to do so. While the story isn't perfect and have very few glaring problems for my taste specially the not so long chapters. I would like to say to the author that he made the story very entertaining. - Ult the DreamerRoyal Road★★★★★ 4.5Fairly cute at times and serious at others. It's well written in most aspects.
There's a few misspellings and such but it's almost published quality. I believe a few descriptions of the dungeon and some characters could have more depth as I'm rarely certain how big the different floors are and what some of the gods and secondary characters look like. However aside from some polishing it's a wonderful story and I binged the first book in a day.
