Description
The Fall. It was the beginning of a new age of magic, and only at the cost of a few billion lives. Gates sprung up all across the globe, releasing the Vices that people kept imprisoned within themselves. Humanitywassupposed to end afterwards, crushed under the bootheel of an enemy they were woefully unprepared for.
That was, until a suspicious occurence landed one Victor Amadi the opportunity to go back to the start of the apocalypse. Trapped within the same 10 years, he has to prepare the world for a war it didn't know had been waging on for years. He'll need all the allies he can get, human or otherwise. - GluttonousRoyal Road★★★★★ 5.0I enjoyed this book a lot. I liked how the ending of book 1 went. I was kind of bummed when I finished the last chapter because I was wanting to keep reading it. I hope that you do continue with a book 2. Take your time if you do.
- gostsamoRoyal Road★★★★★ 4.5This is an interesting mix of system apocalypse and time loop. Nothing really groundbreaking at the moment, but as far as we are at the very beginning, the story might take surprising directions in the future. Until now the main character went through the standard tutorial run of acquainting himself with the new realities, acquired powers, met support staff, and so on.
From here, there are two possible paths. Timeloop as a shortcut to overpowered slaughter or the reason I like timeloop stories - going deep into mysteries, digging into motivations and causalities, and finding out a new understanding of the world. Wait and see.
Regarding the style, it could be better. The motivations of the characters are rather straightforward, the emotions they experience - too.
Grammar - mostly okay, but I'm left with the impression that the city is Los Angeles.
Overall, story with a promise and some issues. The rating is slightly higher than deserved, but I have hopes and woke up fresh this morning and don't feel being grumpy. - msharlo1Royal Road★★★ 3.0I like time loops, it's got good character development. That said, there are some obvious grammar mistakes and some very large plot holes. The next part is for the author so if you don't want spoilers stop here. Ex. For the first loop, it takes a decade but he only gets two seeds, this doesn't make sense even if he is trading seeds for resources. Similarly it would take about six months to walk across the U.S. so the time line of a decade for the first cross doesn't make a lot of sense if they are prioritizing travel. While his actions to stop off and help various communities or need to gather food/gas/resources could attribute to some delays, a decade is not reasonable, especially considering how quickly he speed runs it in the next loop. There are also issues in the second loop, for instance he does not give the second lighting seed to Amadeous despite the high likely hood of unlocking a synergy, So, I like the story, but please work on it more.
