- lil_literalistRoyal Road★★★★★ 5.0There are a number of novels on Royal Road which have interesting concepts but are held back by the author's writing prowess. This novel would likely be enjoyable even for those who aren't as interested in the genres. And if you're a fan of historical fiction, them you should absolutely give this a read.
Tiger in the Shadows is set in 17th century Japan. It has rock solid storytelling with dynamic and deep characters. There are a few more Japanese terms and concepts in this novel than in DCHaru's other work, Dig Two Graves, but anything important can be picked up with context clues.
The overarching plot is a mystery, but there are plenty of exciting moments interspersed throughout the chapters as well.
I highly recommend it, and if you like this, then also check out Dig Two Graves.
