Description

Throne of the Unbound is a slow-burn progression fantasy novel that blends minor elements of xianxia, cultivation and isekai with a more traditional high-fantasy world.

Synopsis:

Fleeing the destruction of earth, Alar is aboard a ship bound for T7-404, a potentially habitable planet 100 light years away. Brought on as a civilian construction supervisor, Alar intends to help colonize the planet upon arrival and contribute to the building of their new world. However, upon waking from stasis, he learns that the planet is already inhabited by a pre-industrial society, one that defies all scientific expectations.

While the civilizations below appear medieval in structure, they are surrounded by unexplainable anomalies, and an energy that seems to pulse through the very land itself. Assigned last-minute as security for their descent, Alar is faced with disaster, as they learn that they have landed at the center of a magical war that they have no means to understand, let alone survive. As chaos erupts around them, Alar is separated from his crew, forced to navigate a world where magic is not myth, but law, and where power is dictated by those who can wield it. But as he struggles to stay alive, he begins to realize that something within him is awakening, reacting to the very essence of this world in ways that no one fully understands.

If he is to survive, he must master powers not meant for him and forge his own path before he is consumed by a war he was never meant to fight.

First off, an interesting start, which provides far deeper implications than one could think of up to that point.
Then you start the xianxia portion, and it really gets going. I dont remember the last time I felt desparation in a fight scene, and the introduction of (artificial) characters leaves me wanting for more.

I definitely like what the author has cooked up and the prose is easy to read and follow. The author has spent a good amount of work in characterization and world building, that I really appreciate and gives the MC clear motivations.
Excited to see more from this series and hope the author continues this excellent story for as long as possible.
