Description

**On Hiatus as I rewrite and fix the plot**In a society where bloodlines and privilege shape destinies, Pia, a war orphan with no family, legacy, or status to support her, refuses to accept her low-class status. Fueled by her fierce resolve to rise above her position, Pia is determined to gain power as a martial artist. No matter what, Pia will learn new skills, seek new knowledge, and triumph over any obstacle through blood, sweat, and grit. With nothing but childhood friendships bolstering her spirit and a relentless Master driving her to new limits, Pia perseveres forward, pushing every muscle, strength, and fiber of her being.

But, hidden beneath the surface, secret forces begin to pluck the threads of fate, threatening the position Pia fought so hard to achieve. As the threads unravel around her sect, Pia must confront newfound enemies and her own sense of honor and resolve.

Follow Pia from mud to mastery, as she proves that destiny isn't given but seized—by those bold enough to hold a blade to destiny's throat and demand it obey.

Author Note:This is a very slow burn, character driven narrative. It is intended to be a slice of life style progression/cultivation story. Thereisa lot of character and world development, nota lot of fighting/action in the first 100k words.

One of the authors whose story I'm following recommended this one and I'm glad they did. I really like xianxia stories but too many are from a male pov so it's a really pleasant change to get the female pov, especially as she's a martial artist apprentice. Given the blurb introducing the story, I've been anxious waiting for the other shoe to drop. But for this kid life has not been kind so I kept wondering, how much worse could it be? Well, having reached chapter 15, I now know.  Not terribly more awful just outside of her experience and knowledge, which will make it worse, for her.
This story is well written. Lots of care and attention to details. The world building is slow but solid. The characters are 3D with even minor ones given more than surface treatment. Grammatically, this is one of the best I've read.
So far, we haven't been told much of her story beyond the basics. She's an orphan. She has an extremely distant guardian. The town folk are mostly unkind. She has two good friends that are now many miles away, each at a different sect.
I'm certain much turmoil is completely not her way in the following chapters, I just hope it's balanced with some emotional support. Highly recommend.

I started reading after seeing a post on reddit about this story. I was immediately hooked on the main character's personality and spunk.
The way cultivation is described sounds very intriguing and I am looking forward to more details and fights. Loving the slice of life aspect and the focus on human interactions that feel realistic and well-thought.
The world building sounds great so far with no info-dumping, making it clear that the author has a good grasp on pacing and on what makes a story interesting. I also loved the attention to detail when describing the outdoors and its dangers.
Congratulations to the author, I will definitely follow this story!

I usually don't write reviews, but this work of art has earned it, so I will try.
I read until chapter 36, at the moment I wrote this review.
The story had me hooked before I finished the first chapter. Usually I read a dozen or so chapters before I get invested.
    Characters:
They feel very real and are well written and have depth. There are up and downs, which influences how they react and they make sense for the character.
    Grammar:
I haven't seen any mistakes consciously or it is so minor I forgot. Fluid reading.
    Story:
It is a cultivator story,  but still creative. The author has taken the  concepts deemed fit and made something new and unique out of it. The world feels alive and interesting, begging to be explored. Though the exploring only began relative recently, due to the training arc. The MC works hard for her progress and doesn't get an 'easy win'.
I honestly would love to rate higher, especially considering what other stories get 4 or 5 stars. Compared to some others it should be a 6. It is a book quality read.
To the author: thank you for writing and sharing this.

Excellent writing with good grammar and clean structure, strong character development, and a story that gradually but steadily pulls you in. Well worth savoring, especially if you enjoy a steady pace. No info dumps, the story unfolds and adds more depth as it progresses.
