Thorns: A Queer Fairytale

Description
Britomart has spent her first two months as a knight waiting hopefully for a quest, only to find that her homeland of Galbrica is woefully short on nefarious lords who need vanquishing or mythical objects that need finding. She is more than a little relieved when a quest falls into her lap: Her sister’s fiancé has gone missing in the Shadowed Wood. He is not quite a delicate princess who needs rescuing, but he will have to do.
What Britomart finds in the Shadowed Wood is more than she bargained for: a cave of sleepers sunk in bespelled slumber, a castle surrounded by roses with thorns sharp as daggers, and a sorceress with powers thought to have vanished centuries ago. In the Shadowed Wood, the old tales are still very much alive. But Britomart soon learns that old tales can be deceiving, and perhaps the real danger lies far closer to home.
As treachery brews within Galbrica, Britomart must choose between her loyalty to her homeland and her newfound attachment to the Shadowed Wood…and to the sorceress who dwells there.

- AfsurpRoyal Road★★★★★ 5.0This story is very well written. The characters are interesting and they have depth and the world building is good. The story is not that far along yet but I am looking forward to learning more about the characters and their relationship. Overall I highly recommend this story and I look forward to reading more.
- KirjavaRoyal Road★★★★★ 5.0I'm not a writer. I don't have the education or the experience to judge this work at that level. I'm just a queer woman who thinks this is a beautiful story. One that I would love to see the end of one day. Thank you for the experience. I hope to see you return in the future.
- vinylicpandaRoyal Road★★★★★ 5.0This story is fucking great. I will admit, I came into this with low expectations, but I was way blown right out the fucking water!
This story is an absolute beauty, providing and invigorating and engaging relationships. It starts off with an already engaging prologue, and then smoothly shifts to the actual story, which lets you connect some initial dots.
Grammer: Great, not only did I not find any issues, but this goes above and beyond. It is an easy read but in no way simple, with the author greatly conveying the emotions of the main character.
Style: This provides many unique elements I have not found in any other stories. There seems to be nothing forgotten or set aside, with even the smallest things having lasting effects on the characters actions.
Story: I can't go much into this without spoilers, but trust me, it's good. The main character's relationship is tense but hopelessly romantic. There are many moments which will make your heart squeeze.
Character: At the moment some characters need to be more fleshed out, but never the less what is given is great.
Overall, this story is a great read which any reader will not find lacking.
