Description

This fic will not be continued. Sorry to everyone who started getting invested or interested. I started writing this fiction because I wanted to be successful and not necessarily because I cared about the themes and powers explored in this story. Namely this was going to be a slob powerfic. I realized that I did not enjoy writing this and am more interested in exploring my own interests and stories and characters I care about.

Max, along with his new friend Jamie and the rest of humanity, is summoned into The CRAWL -a trial designed to integrate Earth into the Galactic Consensus.

Max, however, has a problem.

He barely knows how to fight and the pitchfork he had when summoned is all he has to defend himself. Not advancing fast enough means ejection from The CRAWL, and according to the very same, that means death.

Watch Max and Jamie struggle through the ordeals The Crawl throws at them as they try to reconvene with their families and loved ones.

Expect immature jokes, numbers go vroom, and progression both as characters and on stat sheets.

-----

Exceptional circumstances and impatience have resulted in the Milky Way's long-anticipated entry into the Galactic Consensus. All were ready, except humans. Scheming and pointless politics force humanity into a disadvantaged fight in the CRAWL. The only out a return to a deadly Earth.

Updates at least 2-3 times a week.

    Much Potential, Very Wow.
We don't know a lot about the story yet, so maybe the rating is a bit premature, but there's quite a few things I like. The worldbuilding is happening subtly in the background, but at a good pace and fits with the story. The characters feel human and decently smart without being unrealistic. The abilities are neat, too. It's good and has solid potential. I'll keep reading and if it gets worse I'll change my review

Dungeon Reaper starts off strongly as do most apoc stories that don't want to drag things out, setting itself up for the potential to be something truly great.
The story itself opens up with a bit of a proglogue read that doesn't take away from the story itself, like a lot of prologues. There's a lot of lore in that bit, which I feel like I'll forget before its relevant, but it does do a good job of setting the tone of the story.
The author sets a nice pace to the story, finding ways to fit plot and action equally, while also having the characters explore their newfound abilities and talk them out. The only iffy part on this section is how quick Max and Jamie just accept things as they are. Even the most stable minded person will be taken aback by the world suddenly changing so drastically, but after basically saying, 'Well that was weird', the characters just go with it without really taking a moment to let their mind process what is happening. Adapting is fine, accepting wholesale is a little off.
The story itself seems like a classic dungeon crawl story, with the author's own personal twists, which add a personality to the plot that is enjoyable. Even early on, I get the sense that there will be some interesting battle up ahead.
You can tell that the author wrote this story with an extra set of eyes, as grammar and typos are nearly non-existent. The individual sentences flow well into the paragraphs, doing a damned good job at setting the pace for each scene. Word choices are also on point. I usually don't put much stock into the grammar section of these, but this one definitely deserves a shout.
If Max was by himself, he would be a flat, uninteresting character. If Jamie was by herself, she would be an interesting character that would grow boring. However, these two characters work rather well together, balancing out the cast from the jump. Any future characters that come into play will be able to slide it seemlessly with these two without damaging the chemistry

The character interactions seems to be intended as the central pillar of engagement (judging from the summary), but the interactions so far have failed to intrigue me and the characters have only been shown on a superficial level—they feel generic.
Neither did the action scenes engage me—(they were fairly simplistic)—nor did the magic system make so much as an attempt at intriguing me—(at least it didn't feel like any questions were dangled before my nose; questions were asked by the protagonist whose PoV we didn't see which signals that it won't be a narrative focus)—and, uhhh, what else is there?
Ah, right, the prose. It's fairly generic, maybe even a bit bland :Ü™
