- InkujiinRoyal Road★★★★★ 5.0(Re:) This has been an incredible experience from start to finish.
I was hooked from the first page to the last, and the characters were a real highlight. The grammar has improved since then and made the novel much more enjoyable to follow.
Furthermore, while I appreciated the use of complex language, it might have been better to simplify certain concepts or make them more distinct from one another.
However, these minor critiques are far outweighed by the positive aspects of the story. The characters are so well-developed that I felt like I knew them personally. Their motivations, desires, and struggles are all fleshed out in a way that makes them feel real and relatable.
The pace of the story is another aspect that kept me engaged throughout. There was never a dull moment, and each chapter left me eager to find out what happened next. The plot was also refreshingly progressive, tackling social issues in a way that was both meaningful and thought-provoking.
Overall, I highly recommend this book to any fan of fantasy. The author has reworked the minor flaws I mentioned before, and the captivating characters, fast pace, and progressive plot make it a truly great read. - DamnJacksonRoyal Road★★★★★ 5.0Overall this book is quite the interesting read, the character's are very interesting and their self development is even more interesting. Especially that of the MC. The world is vast with at least four continents(with their own culture's and way of life). The people are diverse with unique characteristics to identify them. Overall it's a pretty good read.
Style: The style of writing is really good. It is done in a way that the beginning of the book just hooks you. The way the right words are placed and said at the right moment is commendable.
The serious and grim tones also add to the quality of the book
Story: The plot of the story is good because how well the story has been paced.
I especially liked the lore on the moon's and how they are linked to saraxai. The lore of the world and the origin of the gods being worshipped
Grammar: There were a few grammatical errors on previous chapter's but they were dealt with and did not particularly disturb the read.
Characters: The character's were the highlight of the story, each character is well thought out with their own backstory, motivations, likes and dislikes etc. The book does not particularly revolve around the MC, each character introduced drives the quality of the book. I like the way author captures the emotions of the character's and their unique points of views.
In general, it's very well written - ItkovanRoyal Road★★★★★ 5.0We start off with our main character from birth, where he as a baby gets to have a "prana-core" stuffed into his baby-chest.
This is apparently how magic powers are introduced to humans.
Now, our main character has not had an upbringing that any of us would envy, no loving parents, powers going haywire and his only friend is a voice in his head that tells him stories of a long lost past.
Considering that he also has no dreams while he sleep, you wouldn't really be wrong to think that he's bound to go stir-crazy.
The story is well written, though there were at the time of this review some minor spelling/syntax issues and a couple of sentences that seem to be straight from the original draft.
There is very little use of the common "System" that we might be familiar with from other litrpgs, but i find it refreshing to mainly get things like name, health and the equivalent of "mana", rather than a full character list telling me which spells someone has access to, proficiency with what weapon etc...
We start off with a protagonist who seem to have a somewhat stunted mental growth, sure he's intelligent enough and booksmart, but if anything, his EQ seem to be in the single-digit area.
As time passes, we see some development on this matter, but even as we can see development of the character, we can also get a feeling that he may never quite fall into what would be considered "normal".
So from me, it's a big plus that we get to see some development, but at the same time, we're not privy to internal thought-process, which means we never quite know how he comes to the conclusions he makes. - LUCIFER36Royal Road★★★★★ 5.0Overall Impression: Prepare to be spellbound by this mesmerizing novel that takes readers on an unforgettable journey. From start to finish, it captivates with its rich storytelling and leaves you craving for more.
Grammar: While there are a few minor grammatical issues, they pale in comparison to the sheer enjoyment derived from the story. These slight hiccups do not overshadow the engrossing narrative and the author's evident talent.
Story: The plot unfolds with a perfect balance of pace and intrigue, keeping you hooked and hungry for the next chapter. It skillfully tackles social issues, provoking thoughtfulness and leaving a lasting impact on the reader.
Style: The author's writing style is a true delight, employing descriptive prose to vividly paint the story's world. The carefully chosen words evoke emotions and quirks, particularly evident in the depiction of dreams and flashbacks.
Character: The characters are the heart and soul of this novel, beautifully developed with relatable motivations and flaws. While the dialogue for throwaway characters can be simplistic at times, the author excels at creating distinctive voices and engaging interactions.
In summary, this fantasy gem is a must-read. With its enthralling story, skillful writing style, and well-rounded characters, it will transport you to a captivating world and leave a lasting impression. Don't miss out on this extraordinary literary experience - IcanicaRoyal Road★★★★★ 4.5Read until chapter 6! My take so far!
Overall:
A very interesting story, one that I think I will continue reading. Here is my understanding of it so far:
The MC is a split personality character, split between a normal person with no memories (of course normal in terms of a fantasy world) and an eldritch being. The eldritch character is similar to the normal part of itself considering it has been "slumbering" for a long time. The MC (human side) is trying to find his way in the world, piecing together his lost memories and accompanying a spry nonhuman girl while she looks for her family. The other MC is so far much more reserved and I'm interested it what this person is truly after.
Style:
Tone: The tone of the story so far has been serious and somewhat grim. The world conveyed is a serious one where bad things can happen to good people and the author tells you upfront. Just my kind of thing.
Voice: I like the author's particular voice, it is descriptive, paying attention to the emotions and quirks of various characters. It seems to be revealed most clearly in how the author describes dreams and flashbacks.
POV: One of the most important things about stories, something I struggle with as well, is using the right POV for the right moment of the story. I think the author does this very well. It also takes a good writer to make you care about a character within a hundred words.
Narrative structure: Good so far. I enjoyed the introduction to the MC during the prologue, the way the author wrote Ninjara escaping from prison (ch 1). It might be my own preference but I think that
Ninjara's backstory with her parents was a little too info dumpy. I have this issue as well when I write my own novel but I think it might be better to weave this backstory throughout the following chapters rather than include it all at once. Or perhaps include it all at once a bit later. Although it did move the story along, so it isn't a big problem with the story.
Imagery: I appreciate the imager - Spinning_FlailRoyal Road★★★★★ 4.5General Thoughts: This book will take you on a wild ride that you won't forget. It grabs you right from the start with its great storytelling and keeps you wanting more when it's done.
Grammar: A couple of minor grammar slips do pop up, but they don't spoil the fun of the story. These minor bumps don't detract from the magnetic narrative and the evident prowess of the writer.
Plot: The story is well-paced, keeping you interested and making you want to read more. It brings up real-world problems in a smart and surprising way that keeps you invested in the story.
Style: The way the writer uses words is very enjoyable. They use colorful words to make the world of the story really come alive. The words they choose really bring out feelings and special traits, especially when they talk about dreams and memories.
Characters: The characters are what makes this book special. They're well-written, with goals and weaknesses that make sense. Some minor characters might speak in a simple way, but the writer is good at giving main characters their own unique voices.
In short, this fantasy book is something you should read. It has amazing characters, and great worldbuilding. - David GilesRoyal Road★★★★ 3.5On the face of it this should be the exact sort of story I should love but I just couldn't get into it. The LitRPG elements are so light they may as well not be there, detracting from the story rather than adding to it.
The amnesia was an interesting plotline but is resolved so quickly as to be almost irrelevant and the worldbuilding feels shallow where important information is being held back from the reader so it can be revealed more dramatically later.
