- RznRoyal Road★★★★ 4.0Hank is one of the MCs where you either love him or hate him. He's brash, insensitive and OP. The unchallenged use of magic to bully people and even winning a mermaid over in a flash after being abrasive hints at him being untrustworthy. In some strange sense, the narration feels unreliable. Perhaps I am being skeptical, but details like her 'going bereft of her top' and the prose choosing to focus on Hank as some godlike being paints the story as his indulgent fantasy. If so, that makes this good because it can draw the ire of the reader. This was not exactly the most enjoyable because I assume Hank is unlikable on purpose. It does need some copyediting to fix mistakes though. Worth a read for those who like brash OP wizards.
