- IsotomicRoyal Road★★★★★ 4.5I'm not the best at reviews, but I have loved this story so far and feel that it deserves one so here we go.
The story is pretty much what the title says. A very well written story about a crew stranded in space on a monster infested ship. Anyone that is familiar with Dead Space will see some similarities, but nothing so alike as to be alarmed about. While the prologue gives a little taste of what's to come the main story takes a while to set up, but hang in there, it's worth it.
Now for some praises. The story is creepy as hell and very descriptive where it can be (not a lot of scenery in space) while still letting your imagination do some work. It's told in a multi pov naritive, which doesn't feel bogged down with the small character count. My favorite part is the characters. They feel like real people. They talk, behave, and interact the way people would (something a large number of stories don't do well with on Royal Road imo).
Spoiler: Spoiler
The combination of this being a horror novel, and the multi pov means no plot armor, proven as of chapter 20. So there is an actual suspense as to wether a character will die, which so many stories lack, and it certainly helps the characters feel more alive.
The only negative I have is the grammar. For the most part it's great; well laid out structure, good word choices, and a nice flow. Really the only problems are spelling mistakes, mostly misstypes (usually at 3-5 a chapter) and and a few weird punctuations. Overall still perfectly readable, and read it I have.
