- NeverbourneRoyal Road★★★★★ 5.0I came here to keep reading after reading/listening to first released book.
I've really enjoyed the story so far. There are a few tropey characters like the cowardly doctor and the horribly insufferable Brad, but then there are a lot of truly lovable characters (hentai drawing senior citizen badasses). Of the core group, I've been a pretty happy with all of them. The personal drama between the 2 lead guys never got too bad, and helped to give each of them a bit of depth, while none of the female leads were relegated to damsels in distress (Stephanie came close to being that trope a few times, but it worked to have at least one of the characters not be a badass battle nut). All in all, it was a lot of fun, I really enjoy the card loot system, and can't wait to read what comes next. - NthompsonRoyal Road★★★★★ 5.0Started this story a few days ago. Wasn't really invested in the characters before the action started, but since then the plot and mechanics have been drawing me deeper and deeper in. Looking to every post now.
The dual MCs really start to find their stride once a certain drama is resolved. - UrthwyrmjimRoyal Road★★★★★ 5.0The story is well thought out, and engaging. The characters are fun, frustrating, witty, and annoying all at the same time. The systems put in place are new enough to feel fresh, while retaining enough similarity to other systems to feel familiar. I am very excited to see the characters progress, the interpersonal relationships evolve, and the story unfold.
- DarbOvRoyal Road★★★★ 3.5I'm enjoying the story for the most part. Little parts take me out like the two MC storylines switching in between chapters can take me out since I try and get myself invested in what some people are doing and then hard stop those events and trusted back into the other. Some interactions seem a little over the top or too tolerated in an apocalyptic hellzone where everyone is trying to survive.
The system everyone is using in the apocalypse to live is not really explained. You just read and have to try and figure everything out which is okay as a concept and did keep me thinking also made it seem adverse to the reader.
Overall I'd give it a try the writing and grammar ain't that bad (especially if you have read a lot MTLs like me then everything is good to read). If this isn't your cup of tea so be it, but if ya find yourself liking it then we can talk in the comments!
