What would you do, if a piece of a God chose you?

Ruth was born deaf. Abandoned by humans, she was taken in by Benelim, a mysterious offshoot race of Nephilim. Despite the kindness of her adoptive mother Leela, Ruth couldn’t shake that she didn’t belong. When she turned seven, a Shard of a fallen God fell from the heavens and merged with her soul.

Ruth must go back to the humans who rejected her for answers. Why did a Shard choose her? As she grows older Ruth still struggles to fit in. But becoming a Godshard has given her many things. She can cast powerful magical spells. She can see the world in a different light, things normal people cannot see such as the true nature of people’s souls.

It is through this that she sees the good in both humans and Benelim. She makes friends among both peoples and she tries to get them to see what she sees! Yet tensions and hatred keep them separate. The humans say the Benelim abandoned them in their time of need. The Benelim say the humans rejected their guidance. Ruth longs to discover the truth, in the hope to bring them together once more.

Ruth’s plans unravel when monstrous invaders, another offshoot Nephilim race known as Maelim, attack both her homes. They are led by a warlord known only as The Butcher. Ruth must find a way to unite her two peoples, before this marauder destroys them both.
