6 Chapters in (update)- Action has been maintained throughout. There are some occasional spelling mistakes but nothing major. The style is nice (at least I like it). The story and characters seem to progress slowly due to the action packed chapters, hopefully they will lead to somewhere. The motivations of the MC are still unclear (if they exist at all).
Anyways, I will keep following until 10th chapter for sure

It's been a loooong time since I last read a novel about a magic academy. And boy, did this novel make me miss those days. There is something captivating about reading about the adventures of a rookie adventurer taking his first steps in a world of magic and wonder. There is no larger scheme or big baddie yet, just a young person overcoming his own problems and limitations, growing up to become a better adult than he was when he was a boy. And, of course, the tournament arc.
This novel is like this: there is a sense of naive beauty to it that a lot of the newcomers to this website don't have. It has none of the jaded cynicism or the meta commentary that some other novels have, instead focusing on what makes the writing good and enjoyable. I liked it! It recognizes the tropes and rolls with them, giving us a new sense of exploration and wonder like we are seeing those tropes for the first time. Even better yet, because I kind of know that a great story of growth and redemption, friendship and competition is coming, I can't wait to see it unfold! Sometimes it's good to see something we all know and love, with a new perspective on things.
As for the scores, mostly 5 stars across the board. Grammar is perfect, the style fits the genre perfectly and the characters are nice and already show signs of good characterization. Now, author, if you manage to not lose your way, you will be set to write a mighty fine novel!

I enjoyed this thoroughly, and ended up speeding through because it was such an easy read that provided lots of fun, world building, and hints of something greater.
    Style:
The author utilizes perspectives well, in order to provide both depth and breadth to the world and characters. Descriptions aren't lengthy or boring, and we're quickly caught up on the world and characters each time, in keeping with the fast pace. I really like that the author doesn't try to belabor any points or spend ages on nitty gritty details - choosing instead to get to the meat of things without forsaking context.
    Story:
This is an ultimate fairy tail: we have celestial beasts helping us defeat the armies of evil, guilds led by powerful individuals, and an orphan who might be more than meets the eye. Very interested to see where this goes!
    Grammar:
Very very minor stuff here and there, doesn't interrupt your reading experience at all.
    Character:
I like Spade - he's a unique protagonist, with his own quirks and back story. The other characters are interesting as well - I really like that the author doesn't brush over others as 'background characters': care is given to flesh out each person we meet, and paint them in relation to the protagonist and others.
    Overall:
Well done, and I'm very curious to see what happens next!

Style: The description of the magic academy drew me in straight away and that’s partly due to the way the writer shows us the world from the POV of the main character, complete with opinions and thoughts on what is occurring.
The fight scenes are detailed in a way that leaves enough to the reader's imagination, so frequently every single movement is described and I like the writer showing some restraint.
Story: Magic academy is a trope that we all know and it’s great to see the writer acknowledge this and refain from huge info dumps, just focusing on creating characters and an engaging plot. The tournament is a great build up and having had the wonderful Prologue we know that this will be a journey of companionship, leveling up and loyalty. Can’t wait to know more about Celestial Beasts and revisit the Prologue scene.
Grammar: I’m not close-reading for issues. Nothing got in the way of my reading.
Character: Spade is a great guide into this world, and it’s clear that care is taken to introduce the other characters in a thoughtful way - not just relegating them to ‘side character’.
All in all a wonderful new fiction for RR and certainly deserving of a Follow and a Favorite to support the great potential here.

I gotta say, magic academy and spirit/animal bonding are two of my favorite tropes, so it's super cool to see them paired up here!
The Ultimate Fairy Tale follows Spade, a young man who's finally found a reason to actually try at his magical academy: he's finally connected with his celestial beast and apparently disappointed it with his slacking off. This is a really intriguing premise and one I'm looking forward to.
The first few chapters focus on Spade's classes and interests, with a little smattering of details about his classmates. Spade seems like a loner, so he doesn't actually interact with his classmates that much. Mostly just observing. The action scenes are dynamic and engaging, with funny anime-esque moments sprinkled in.
Spade himself is... very tropey. He's an edgy orphan with no friends and a fox-spirit companion. I think this would be fine if we spent more time with Spade and really got to know him. But the first few chapters focuses on his day-to-day early 10th grade, and then we jump forward 1 year. Currently, there's no chapter past that (waiting for an update), so I'm not sure if we'll get to see that progression from trash student to better student. We'll see.
With all the details included about his classmates, it feels like we'll get a lot closer with a bigger cast, but it's too early to tell just yet.
The style is a little inconsistent, hopping between slapstick funny and serious, intense action between paragraphs. I think the combo could work, but it needs some polishing to smooth down these noticeable edges. Grammar could also use some smoothing, but the author is always improving (they keep track of how many post-posting edits they make, which is super cool), which is a big plus in my book.
If you're looking for more magic academy shenanigans, The Ultimate Fairy Tale is an intriguing story with a huge cast of (as of yet) supporting characters and some good ol' standard tropes. It's a good time, overall. :3

The Ultimate Fairy Tale follows the exploits of Spade as he navigates a world of magic, monsters, classmates, and most importantly, his education.
This progression fantasy is reminiscent of other magical academy stories such as Harry Potter. There's a sense of wonder and awe to be had in this fantasy setting with some interesting rules established early on. The author doesn't throw too much world-building at the forefront, opting to weave bits and pieces into each chapter for the readers to discover.
Despite the magical nature of the story, I liked how it still seemed grounded as Spade traverses through the trials and tribulations of an adolescent, dealing with classmates and teachers alike and the stressors of everyday coursework. I think where the story diverges from things like Harry Potter is that our main character is already familiar with his surroundings, so we get a sense of familiarity with the world and acceptance of the rules as established facts. It circumvents the need to introduce a million little nuances at the start of a story which I think is a really good idea.
The action is also well-paced and gives the reader a sense that the scenes are kinetic and lively.
I thought the characters and Spade's interactions with them to be well developed and planned.
Some things that the author could work on are the prose and grammar. There are many instances where the author tells rather than shows the reader what is going on. This is a problem I faced in my early chapters and I think can be fixed with a little editing to add nuance. The grammar needs some work, but I've seen that the author is continuously editing so I'm confident that this will improve significantly very soon.
Overall, this is an engaging story and concept that I find very nostalgic and fresh at the same time. I'm excited to see what the author thinks of next :)
