Description
Terras was created by the True Gods of Darkness and Light, working together in perfect balance to give birth to a world of magic that brought prosperity and joy to its inhabitants. But, a malevolent force began to grow from the shadows. This malevolence materialized into the Demon God, but as the Demon God emerged, so too did the Angel God --- natural opposites.Amassing an army of demons and unleashing them upon the human world, the Demon God sought to attain the power of the True Gods, but the Angel God defeated him in this first war and banished him back to the depths of hell.
In the wake of the second war, the Angel God was fatally wounded. Though a strategic defeat of the demons, Terras was thrown in jeopardy as the Demon God was allowed to accumulate power unopposed. However, his own forces were left scattered and depleted. Now, with the dawn of the third war approaching, The Demon God now sits upon his infernal throne brooding. His ultimate ambition? To rule over a world where all fear him, an absolute tyrant with none powerful enough to defy him.

- Frosty I. FrostRoyal Road★★★★★ 4.5So, the story is about a Demon God getting absolutely wrecked by the Armies of Heaven. With that, the Demon God decided to visit the human world to extend his influence and find a good host to up his hand. It's a normal premise, nothing special. BUT, it's fun. It's not edgy like 90% of the same types of stories. I also noticed references to certain game series and coincidentally, I love those series so that's a win for me.
Characters:
Mila and Graybeard are your typical young orphan-wise mage duo. In my opinion, they aren't that fun but they aren't boring either. I didn't skip their dialogues and I had fun while following them. The Demon God is your typical Demon Lord; sinister, cunning, deceptive and bonkers strong. However, there is a single character that I love. And that character is Alpos, the faithful servant of the Demon God. I absolutely LOVE this character because he is unintentionally a better administrator, a better commander, and a better organizer than his master AND he is loyal. Even when he doesn't intend to, he serves his master one way or another and I want more Alpos god damn it!
Style Score:
The style is fun and descriptive. The way the author describes the events and the emotions is really vivid and helps the reader visualize the setting. It's not groundbreaking but it's definitely good.
Grammar:
The vocabulary is good. Some words are repeated a lot throughout the chapters but that's normal. But this section is the only issue I have with this series. The paragraphs are choppy, and most of the time rather than paragraphs, there are separate sentences. There are some typos and spelling mistakes present in the story. Truthfully, these kind of make it hard to follow what's going on sometimes and it takes away from the fun. But, this can be fixed after a couple of days of editing and proofreading, it's not irreversible.
Overall:
It's definitely a fun read and it's not boring. It's not groundbreaking at all but let's be honest, nothing is nowadays. As - D. L. SchindlerRoyal Road★★★★ 4.0The Demon Lord assumes human form, and almost learns some valuable lessons.
His companions, Graybeard and Mila are genuine characters with interesting story arcs and the world is well developed and thoughtful. I liked the part when they were in the inn and the Demon Lord (in human form) is in the bathroom. I was thinking: "They've got indoor plumbing, eh?" but then it turns out it is a product of dwarven engineering and the Demon Lord realizes that such a thing could give him the edge in his war against God. I thought that there should be more scenes like that, where he keeps finding things about the world that would improve his next campaign.
I was honestly moved by Mila's backstory and thought about how the Demon Lord was conflicted by human feelings of sympathy and his demonic feelings of cruelty. That was also very interesting. More such internal conflicts would work well for this story.
Alpo was by far my favorite character, it was genuinely amusing how his management skills were improving Hell while the Demon Lord was away. Every time Alpo showed up I was thoroughly enjoying the read. More scenes with Alpo would be an improvement, also.
I don't usually review a story unless I have only nice things to say, can honestly give a very good review and I don't generally offer many suggestions. I'm making an exception because I see a lot of potential in your writing and clearly you are a dedicated, talented and crafty writer. I hope you take the honesty of my words and my ratings as a sign of friendship and that my criticism is useful to you.
Cheers! - DarthFatassRoyal Road★★ 2.0Initially I had some pretty damn high hopes for this novel, I was expecting something like an evil god entering the mortal realm as a human in order to sabotage and manipulate the mortals into either becoming his minions or just outright killing them with his armies.
Well, I was quickly left disappointed. The first female he stumbles on in the mortal world, he ends up falling in love with or something. So I started skimming through the chapters, and I didn't see anything that indicates that this novel would end up becoming the story I was hoping it would become.
I was expecting an evil gods perspective. Instead it seems I got the perspective of a lovestruck idiot who started to become some champion of justice and righteousness just for a single girl. A pretty useless and insignificant girl at that.
