Description

The universe is big, and Hayden's about to invade it.

Being drafted into a demon army wasn't on Hayden's bucket list. But when his soul is shoved into a human soldier on the eve of a new invasion, it’s not exactly like he can appeal the decision.

Surrounding Hayden are demons, excited and ready. For them, the invasion promises a feast of souls and new growth. Their target? Berlis — a sword and sorcery realm straight out of classic fantasy.

Hayden’s human status puts him at the bottom of the totem pole, meant to be cannon fodder that soaks up damage and dies first. But as he plunges into the carnage, he’s learning that he was born for the madness.

"I'm enjoying the hell out of this story. Valentine can write."

It’s a really refreshing take on the genre. I kept looking for a story like this because everything I seem to read is written so similarly these days, with the hero fighting evil and them prevailing. I think it also represents the struggle to keep his morality even though it was tossed in a grinder in these first few chapters.

Love the story. It's original and really well thought out. You can definitely feel the MC change by growing and sometimes regressing in his mental state. The MC makes logical choices and sometimes dumb but reasonable mistakes. I personally really like the story. And I have a problem with reading a lot of the stories on here because the writin doesn't fit me or isn't something that I enjoy, but this is definitely one of them.

Half action, half drama, full entertainment.
Watch the main character try to survive in an army from literal Hell as they run a campaign against other planes. The value of human life is nil (or rather exactly minor 1 soul), so the only way to survive is for them to climb the ranks with power and connections.

Interesting story, that i'm reviewing right now only for the milstone .
so far we have seen mc struggle within the ruthless enviroment of the hell army.
there are alot   of questions regard his development, will he be corrupted completely or still keep his humanity after the ascension?
i'm honestly not sure , if he just get corrupted completely , that'd be  boring as hell as development , an inner struggle  between good and evil is always more interesting rather than just seeying  him turn evil.
a potential rebellion against the abyss could have been cool, It's still not out of the realm of possibilities.
it could be a delopment for when mc is actually powerful enough to rebel.
basically for me this novel find itself in a thin line between potentially good and terrible. based upon mc later devopments .
once again if mc in the end just turn  himself into an evil overlod of the abyss , then that's lame asf .
if instead he rebels (aka keep his humanity), NOW THAT'S INTERESTING.
as for now i'm not sure  , i'm hoping i won't be dissapointed.
Edit: actually if he does turn evil intially and then there is a redemptive arc then that could also potentially good.
like angel from buffy verse, Dude was one of the worst vampire within that universe, fierce and sadist as fuck, yet he was cursed back with his soul and felt Guilt for everything he did.
something similiar could be also interesting to read

This story is just so unique and done so well. As of now it’s early into the story but the world building and progression system are new and interesting. Also there is progression and I feel like each chapter is productive and adds something to the story in multiple ways. The main character also feels relatable and reads well

This is a very smooth ride down the very slippery slope to hell.
Every choice is logical, each step leads to the next. At every moral junction I agree with the choices made. Even if I can see where it leads just as clearly as the MC.
As a great poet once said: "Somebody set up us the bomb. You have no chance to survive make your time."

I like how it's written but it's much darker than I want to read.  I recommend it to anyone who doesn't mind having their heroes do evil things (especially if they are unwilling/compelled) but who are not innately evil.  I would rather not belabor the reasons, because honestly I did like the characters and the writing, just not the theme or the story.
This has to be 50 words.  Apparently "succinct" isn't OK, because someone thinks their grammar teacher's writing class rules are appropriate in all cases, and I needed to write more.

First book was awesome, ripped through it but as others have said he's gone from struggling and being a human to now every is on his team just feels like a full 180 spin from first book, going to drop it for now. Definitely recommend the first book though and may come back at a later date

Dark story, but well written.  The writing is crisp and the plot lines are clear.   I am curious how a moral demon would evolve.
For those who want to read ahead on Patreon, the author has a weird link to a second site that uses Patreon as a payment check but I couldn’t get it to work.   You are better off being patient and waiting for new chapters to drop on RR.

What an absolutely disappointment this gem of a story turned out to be. The early chapters were perfection with character development, interesting progression, and a vibrant, living world, emotion, just about anything you could ask for.
By the end is it’s a hurried, poorly thought out mess, the story abandoned with a poor excuse from the author.
