  I really want to like this story. The serious, more traditional tone is a nice change of pace for a transmigration story. And the descriptions of the environment are exquisite, as if I'm actually touring an old fort, or marching through snow.
  There are just so many problems through the first 19 chapters that kind of nix it for me. And while I'll discuss those issues shortly, the writing is pretty decent, and the issues might not bother others, so this is a bit of a soft recommend to prospective readers.
  Foremost, the juxtaposition between the serious tone and the plot elements. So far, it's basically a bad teenage drama. And that gives it a hollow, soap opera feel. And it's not like this is just one point in passing. Rather, it appears to be a significant arc or theme for the whole book (see elves), at which point it evolves into a harem and he might end up as a stud-horse?
  No, really, when I dropped off, it turns out that the protagonist is apparently the only human who is fertile with the dying elven race and so he's kind of obligated to repopulate the elven race by banging the last six surviving members.
  On top of that, it's just a really weird thing to me that in a world with an objectively real goddess, her organization would suffer so much corruption and incompetence. Like are they idiots? Well, they planned something and the goddess kind of struck the bad guy down. But then someone else tries something barely an hour later over some paperwork. Is he courting death? Once, I could understand, but multiple times is really surprising.
  Also, while the language is nice and descriptive, the pacing sometimes bounces around like mad. In chapter 4, a knight shows up and says the two main characters will become his squires back at (a far away place). And even though less than an hour appears to pass in-world, it takes until chapter 9 for them to saddle up and leave. Then the next chapter is a 2 month time-skip. Which is not handled well and we're suddenly thrust into "h

  This story has all of the elements it needs to be a solid tale, but the execution is a bit off. I'll give a little bit of benefit in the fact that it was a writeathon story, but so much of it is just event after event.
  It is almost like reading a beat by beat outline rather than a fleshed out story. I tried to get through it a bit more to see if some substance was added, but I eventually tapped out.
  It definitely has a place on royal road; it would just do better with a little bit of love, detail, and pacing fixes.
