    The prose gets a little shaky, but this fairy tale/fable reimagining by the author is very wholesome and sweet. I was not familiar with the Chinese tale this was apparently based on, but I did like how the author took it and made it their own. The story's themes are clear, but get a bit muddied at times. It is rather bittersweet in a way, to be the overlooked child in a family, but the brother was trying to be uplifting and that carries the piece well to a good ending.
