The Tower 101: A Gargoyle's Guide to Survival

Unknown really isn’t sure what is worse; having all his choices randomized by some surly ball of light that calls itself Overseer, or having that same Overseer give him the name Unknown. All he’d tried to do was ask some reasonable questions like “what’s going on” and “who am I?” but apparently that was enough to earn the little ball’s ire.

On the other hand, waking up as a gargoyle in someplace called The Tower is a mixed bag. In theory it could have been cool, but in practice it really doesn’t pay to look like a monster in a place filled with monsters. Especially, when it costs him his head and one of his finite respawn tokens.

What happens if he runs out of respawn tokens? Good question and one the System won’t, or can’t, answer.

Oh, and The Tower? Well, it’s someplace with “floors” that can range in size from a small country to a massive continent and the only way to move “up” is through the most powerful dungeon each floor has to offer. Apparently, his kind are supposed to ascend The Tower for riches, power, or freedom depending on who he asks. And by his kind they don’t mean gargoyles; they mean others like him who just appear in the world.

His competition. Or allies. It’s complicated.

Oh yeah, and there’s also the Watchers. Whoever they are. Frankly, Unknown thinks he’s got enough on his plate, thank you.
